Anyone know how many admissions there have been at The London Nightingale Hospital so far?
Are they being staffed by fully qualified NHS staff does anyone know?

It opened 4 days ago but no 'official' figures as yet
The Principality Stadium is equally impressive and (should it be used) will be a state of the art facility, too

This just goes to show that there is no need for hospital shortages. We can build hospitals in a matter of weeks and start saving lives long after this pandemic is killed off.

Looks like we're preparing for what's to come...

Does anyone know who's going to staff these new mega hospitals?
Are NHS staff being diverted from other hospitals to work in them?
Is it going to be those who've retired but have come back voluntarily?
Are they going to be staffed by medical students?
Where are all these extra medically qualified people coming from to staff these places?
Sun Apr 12, 2020 5:49 pm
...also who knows the true numbers of patients due?

No it does not show that at all.
We are going into a huge recession and debt that our grandchildren will be paying off to get all this equipment. If the government had bought all this without the pandemic they would be called reckless and would be called out for massively adding to the national debt.

Let's hope there are some jobs left at the end of all this so that our grandchildren can earn some money to pay it off.

I guess the answer to my questions is no then.
Do the government know I wonder?

Let’s worry about getting through this first, and save as many people as possible regardless of the costs.
And then when it’s all settled down we can worry about paying it off.

F**k the future debt.
We waste millions upon millions on f**k knows what.
Time to wake up, sort ourselves out and let the rest of the world sort themselves out.

The worry is that the longer things remain like they are now the amount of people being killed by this virus is likely to pale into utter insignificance compared to the amount who may die as a result of the consequences of what is happening now.
Suicides, depression, mental health problems, unemployment - figures of 150,000 additional deaths have been forecast as an indirect result of this pandemic.
Perhaps these temporary hospitals won't be as temporary as is hoped.

According to those in the know the US figures for unemployment will soon exceed the Great Depression of the 1930's.We all know if they nosedive we are in the slipstream cruel days ahead gents.

Well let’s hope not. But I feel we have to address the current problem. Don’t think ignoring it is the right thing to do.

It is Luke but if you really want to be impressed go on a military exercise where they practice it for the real thing in case of war. The way the engineers, doctors and medical staff all work together its difficult to believe unless you see it with your own eyes.

Ian, my friend and now former colleague (a big Cardiff City fan) is a Lt. Col. in the RAMC and the stuff he has done over the years is surreal. My admiration for him and his ilk is huge and I know that they have played a huge part in the logistics in getting these effective Field Hospitals up and running
I salute all involved
