Unfortunately the lowest in society see the present crisis as an opportunity to rob, defraud and inflict further misery on those they are jealous of.
Unbelievable behaviour and hopefully they will be caught and dealt with severely.

We are living in a world where people are getting desperate so will revert to such tactics. History shows this to happen mainly through Depression times and as we are going through one now this does not surprise me. The only answer I know of is harsher penalties such as mentioned above. However, I think the Government, those in power and could do something about it, should take some of the responsibility of why this is happening.
Harsher penalties is a start but why not look at why people do such things. Most who do such acts usually have no future such as drop outs, drug addicts and a few more reasons I cannot quite recall at this moment. We live in a socirty where we sweep these sorts under the carpet. There are charities and other groups that want to help them but they are far too few to beat the problem. So what is the answer to this?
I think we all have our own ideas and its a subject we could talk about all day. I will go on about just one of my ideas which I believe most will agree with. I honestly believe some of the punishment handed out today is pointless. Those youngsters that go around in gangs who think they are big terrorising and harming the public end up doing "rehabilitation" classes I think it is called Restortive Justice. Those that condone this are usually those that thought of it. However, most that have been a victim of this and have had to go through watching their attackers do these classes discover that they are a waste of time. The public want these people punished and the best way is to bang them up. To damn right as well.

Bitten, coughed on and threats of being spat at? These are just some of the hazards police have faced while enforcing the lockdown in the UK recently.
A man was charged with assault after two officers were punched and one of them seriously bitten in Rochdale on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in Eastbourne, three women were charged with assault after threatening to spit on and expose to coronavirus police officers who were responding to reports of a house party. One officer also suffered a head injury and required hospital treatment.
And a man from Nottingham who allegedly coughed on a police officer is due in court on Monday after he was arrested following a domestic incident.
He is charged with three offences - actual bodily harm and common assault in relation to the domestic incident, and assault on an emergency worker.

They have been letting prisoners out of jail that sends the wrong signal.

Words fail but I am not surprised. Eighty per cent of Burglaries to feed smackheads roughly, where I live there is a block of flats owned by a local Law firm 4 overdose deaths in two years hands to hands out of the window I have witnessed this more times than I care to mention. No attempt to hide said transactions. But what we truly cannot ignore, ask any primary school teacher, are the feckless breeding the future feckless. My niece worked in child protection I will not relay to you what she has seen. The scum are begetting future scum.I grew up on a pretty tough housing estate in the 1960's/70's we have punch ups did a bit of tea leaving from shops...but this !!! No moral compass, narcissism, complete inability to empathize with other humans.I am frightened to put into print what I now believe.

You are more than right there Jimmy Scoular and also those saying letting prisoners out of prison (AKA Hotel/hostel) early is a very bad example to set.
I too, grew up on a "so called" Rough estate in the 60's/70's and just as you say - yes there were some idiots even then and we all done some mild stuff as kids but mostly a deterrent was authority, either older men/women, caretakers or God forbid your parents wrath !!!
For a while now, without morals or discipline from parents and authority figure attitudes we are breeding feral children with no moral compass and I am afraid "scum are begetting future scum" is the norm.
The generation of liberal lefties and do gooders have taken things to to a new low. Things will only get worse if the people in charge (politicians, magistrates, Judges, police, teachers and parents) do not get things sorted out soon.
Oh and those who say it is all about poverty (ha, what poverty? you mean bad budgeting), transport yourself back to our parents generation - the "make do and mend" generation who had F--k all and sent their sons off to war. Now its the "I want it now, I will have it now, I am entitled, it is my human right".
I hope we can sort things out but do fear for the younger generation.

Custodial sentences will not deter these lowlifes.
If found guilty CUT their benefits or dock their pay IF they are working (unlikely).

Man jailed for doctor assault
A man has been jailed for assaulting a doctor outside the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, police have said.
Gareth Rudge attacked the doctor's head and face outside the hospital’s A&E department at about 00:50 BST on Friday.
The 34-year-old, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newport Magistrates' Court on Saturday, where he pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker.
PC Sam Louros, the officer in the case said: “The doctor is working in the middle of a pandemic, helping those in our society who desperately need medical assistance.
“He was assaulted while carrying out his public duty and continued his shift after the incident, caring for those who require it."
