The Mayor of Mallorca

Translated:

People of Britain/UK this is how lockdown should look like 28-32 degrees everyday nobody out on streets, on beaches, in parks, squares deserted & including so called impoverished areas, & look at results death rate in Spain now down to just over 600 per day whereas Britain is approaching 1.000 per day, this is not a coincidence, it’s showing that the people of Spain and those that live there are treating this invisible enemy as real.

Please start to do the same in the UK for the sake of your family, friends and those in the first/front line of this pandemic! Stay home stay safe & god bless all

There has been a brilliant video done by the National Police / but I can’t get it in here, showing the beauty of Palma and it’s empty streets etc etc

Palma / Mallorca
A police helicopter over Palma usually one of the busiest City’s in Europe, in a proper shutdown :thumbright:

Wales are actually thinking and discussing following Spain’s proper lockdown and yet England is still plodding along letting everyone have their day outs, shocking, but also common sense needed by people themselves.

This post doesn't really need any words!!

Brighton Beach today. London, and an outdoor gym in Cardiff where people ripped off the red and white tape, so they could use the equipment!

Another 980 people died today in the UK!

THE LAST PICTURE IS HEARTBREAKING, AND SAYS IT ALL!

The death rates don’t take differences in population size into account. That said he's spot on with the sentiment, hard to believe people in Cardiff can be so stupid they think ripping tape off an outdoor gym is acceptable or sensible. We’ve all seen what this virus has done to Italy and Spain, yet some still think we’re being over cautious.

Now this is how the rest of the UK should be :thumbright:

Jock,

He means well and is trying to help :thumbright:

Palma is usually packed with 800,000 people this time of year and even in the Winter without tourists it is packed.
It’s Easter and the SPANISH celebrate massively here, very very religious.
The difference is ALL the Spanish people are listening.

It’s not about populations etc

It’s about using common sense etc

And Spain & Italy made terrible mistakes reacted late, so they had hoped the UK would learn from their mistakes and act quicker and stronger , which they have sadly have not.

Figures are horrendous in Spain. In Spain they death count only includes those who have been tested for covid and does not include those who possibly died of it but were not tested I know in Scotland they include those suspected of dying of covid 19 even if no test was done
When you take into account Spain is about 60% of the population of the UK you can either say that the UK are doing extremely well at keeping death rates down or we are in for a hell of a time in the next few weeks

I totally totally agree Spain death total etc is horrendous and shocking and that’s why they and Italy have tried to help the UK with their mistakes.
Remember we are 3 weeks ahead of you and you have not had a lockdown.

But some of the UK know better than the rest of of the world.

Also UK care homes in England etc not included in many figures .

Sadly trying to win brownie points over Spain trying to give helpful advice from their mistakes makes me sad about people like you.

Yes Spain’s population is 50 mill and UK is is about 67 mill , whats that got to do with helpful advice ??

Spain and Italy’s death rate are sadly the worst in the World and that’s why they want to help other countries behind them and stop them catching up, but some idiots like you know better .

UK today and 3 weeks behind Italy

DAY 29 of a proper lockdown
The weather is amazing here in Santa Ponsa Mallorca. But like every Spanish and English Citizen here we are listening and obeying to the strict lockdown and not even allowed out for a walk, But we are healthy and that’s what matters :thumbright:
We have been told this will go on till May 10th and if it keeps our family & friends healthy so be it :thumbright:

We miss Our daughter Annaise (19yrs old) beyond words but thankfully my friend Rob is looking after her in Cardiff.
The day we all meet up again can’t come quick enough

Stay safe everybody and think of your loved ones.

FB

Deborah Jones:

It depends now on the UK people's compliance but a full lockdown will sort it with more patrols even in rural housing areas. The police were on the 5pm update and said that they have issued 1,084 fines between England and Wales so far, although maybe today isn't included and will update everyday on this. Obviously not a lot are caught and fined. We like hearing that other countries are having less cases and deaths, as we know it can be done.

Sky news just said sadly the death numbers from the UK do not include any from deaths in nursing homes , which could be shocking numbers

They just finished the Sky news by saying it could run in to thousands

UK 'could be worst affected country in Europe'

The Andrew Marr Show

Wellcome Trust director Sir Jeremy Farrar says the UK is “likely to be one of the worst, if not the worst, affected countries in Europe”.

Sir Jeremy, a member of the UK government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), said this was down to the lack of testing and tracing.

He also told the BBC's Andrew Marr a second or third wave of coronavirus was "probably inevitable" and a vaccine was the only way out,

A vaccine could be available by autumn, he added, but it would take months to ramp up manufacturing of it to get to "the scale required to vaccinate many millions of people".

"I would hope we can get done in 12 months," said Sir Jeremy.

Spain have just announced they are letting all workers back monday .

That could be a huge mistake and is a very brave call. I think they should wait another 2 or 3 weeks when numbers are down properly personally

It's great for other countries as they can now plan there exit strategy around what happens in Spain by closely over the next few weeks to see if it works or goes the other way.

It says all non-essential workers apart from bars and restaurants

That means a massive percentage of the work force

This with have the eyes of the world, to see what happens. I hope to god that life returns to normal and all restrictions are lifted. But I fear the dreaded second wave as people are still infected.

Let’s hope it all works out.

Spain allows some businesses to reopen

Some non-essential workers in Spain will be allowed to go back to work on Monday as the country partially relaxes its lockdown measures.

Manufacturing and construction are among the businesses that will be allowed to reopen, as long as they adhere to strict safety guidelines.

Non-essential shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues will remain closed.

Ten million face masks will also be given to those travelling on public transport this week as people start to return to work.

Spain is one of the countries worst hit by the coronavirus outbreak - with more than 166,000 confirmed cases and nearly 17,000 deaths as of Sunday. But the number of new infections has been falling.
