Sadly some in the UK are already

I know that Spain even when it’s virtually clear have said UK will probably be the last country to be let in.

Most European Countries are saying the sams.

I expect Mallorca to be open by June :thumbright:

People might be reluctant to go on a plane breathing in what other people have exhaled in a cramped environment.

The way things are going at the moment I'd say 2028.

That's if anybody has got any money to go on holiday when this is all over.

Do you really believe that mate?

The Spanish economy relies massively on UK holidaymakers, Spain will be on its knees without all the Brits that have holidays booked in throughout June, July, August, September.

This is a genuine question by the way, I'm not trying to be funny or clever, now is not the time for that.

38 of is supposed to be coming over to Magaluf in June for a stag do, all paid £500 for the weekend and would have put in a small fortune on beer token, why would we be the part country let in?

Then my brother and his family supposed to he going over for two weeks in August, once this is over if Spain don't want us f**k themz we'll go elsewhere.

Stephen,

Spain depends on the Brits & Germans 100%.

But they will only let them back in if it’s safe, I can actually travel to Madrid, then to UK now, but as I am not Spanish they would not let me back in to Mallorca.

So reckon Mallorca will re-open for locals come end of May - June and prob July or August for UK . That’s only my opinion the last bit .

Hate to say this but I think any economy that relies on tourism is completely f*****d. I and many of my family/ friends have no intention of travelling abroad in the near future

Greece, Spain, Portugal and many others are in for a tough, tough few years

Pembrokeshire, Cornwall, Devon and a few other counties might do ok over the next few years

The British resorts will be ok for a while because the government will pay most of the wages, but only for three months I would imagine as it's £40Billion for that alone!

Italy is just about bankrupt and asking the EU for help, Greece will be the same and Spain will be in financial freefall pretty soon, so they would need us but could they afford to take the risk?

I have found all the tourist areas very hypocritical saying feck off stay at home, and when this is over they will be begging us to come!

I personally would ban flights and movement in and out until a vaccine has been found, until then people shouldn't transport covid-19 from country to country.

I am in agreement with Thomas, we should concentrate on the UK and support the Welsh resorts first and then maybe the rest of the UK, out own Country needs our money, when this is over we need to look after our own and try to buy British wherever possible, we need to rebuild.

Jet 2 have written to holidaymakers cancelling all holidays until 15th June 2020, they are using 16th June as normal service resuming, I'm pretty sure that will be moved back to the end of the year, as we are only on the first wave at the moment, once restrictions are lifted in the World it will start again as less than 10% have so far had the virus.

Of what you’re suggesting actually happens I don’t think there’ll be many travel companies or airlines left.

12 months or more then before it's safe, only a tiny fraction of the people in Spain and the Uk have contracted the virus, if you let Spanish mainland or UK people in you would reinfect the Islands.

For it to be safe you would need herd immunity, approx 80% of the people in the Balearics and visitors that have had the virus.

We probably all need a vaccine for normal service to resume, and that could be anytime from 8 months to 2 years, most people think 18months odd!

I'm no expert mate, maybe some people start taking the chance from June, but I don't think the over fifties with any health issues should, or children living at home with parents over fifty with health issues should either?

There will be a limited number of people prepared to jump on a plane for quite a while, that's for sure!

I think most of the weaker airlines will have to fold, and the industry rebuild when it's all over?

Thats whether you believe in herd immunity. There is a chance that you are able to catch this more than once. In that case herd immunity is useless and we have a huge problem on our hands. South Korea are reporting up to 90 people have caught the virus for a second time. Everyone keeps banging on about it but nobody knows if it will work that way it's just a guess even by so called experts.

If you can get this over and over then the only exit strategy is a full lockdown until a vaccine is found which will totally decimate the world economies.

i readan interesting article the other day. They say you are more likely to pass something through the air on say a bus or a train etc than a plane as the air is changed regularly on a plane, say every 10 minutes where as on a bus or train its just when the doors open at stops.

UK government: Do not book summer holidays

Downing St has said that government guidelines and official foreign office advice "do not allow for people going on holiday".

The prime minister's spokesman said that travelling within the UK for holidays was "not something which the current guidelines allow for" and Foreign Office advice "continues to be that you should go abroad for essential travel only".

Earlier Transport Secretary Grant Shapps suggested people should not book summer holidays for later this year.

Without tourism Spain is knackered, unless Brussels bails them out
