Sky Sports:

Thursday 9th April 2020

The English Football League estimates it will need 56 days to complete the 2019-20 season and has advised clubs that matches are likely to resume behind closed doors.

The EFL, which oversees the Championship, League One and League Two, wrote to its 71 clubs on Thursday with an update amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

With all professional football in England suspended indefinitely, the EFL advised that training should not resume until May 16 "at the earliest", but stressed that further pushbacks were possible depending on government guidelines.

How can you resume playing with social distancing still in place.
Will the ref have to ensure all players are 2 metres apart.

Sports continue to plan for resumptions

With the 2020 sporting calendar halted by the coronavirus outbreak, many governing bodies are still working out potential ways to complete their competitions when they are advised it is safe to do so.

Although that still seems a long way off, fans might be encouraged by some of today's developments:

English Football League clubs have been told the season can be completed in just 56 days when it is safe to resume

Formula 1 could still hold a world championship this year even if the season cannot start until October

The Premier League Darts season hopes to resume on 30 July

Exactly. All complete guesswork atm.
They won’t be able to even PLAN for anything for at least another 6 weeks imo.

Yup, all they have given in reality is the amount of time they feel they need to complete; no mention of when that will commence...just a (quote) "not before"

pengamblue has it all sussed, though ;) :thumbright:

Watch what happens once the Scottish Clubs vote how to end their season, Premier League and EFL will quickly null and void this season, no promotions or relegations and no playing behind closed doors.

Not so much money involved and that will be a huge factor in Premier League and EFL likely continuing :thumbright:

Agree Sven, I just think that the realisation will dawn that there simply won't be enough time to complete the outstanding fixtures, even behind closed doors. I think this season is done.
