The people who heads should roll are the people organising the simple batching of tests ......... also NHS staff.

I don't believe that thing down the bay is even legitimate. but can you really blame a few wrong test results on Drakeford ?

I worked in the NHS for 26 years, in two Cardiff hospitals. Unfortunately, nothing too unusual about test results getting mixed up.

Probably not but I’ve always hated the idea of a Welsh government that’s main policies seem to be ‘anything to be different to England’ so any excuse for a dig as far as I’m concerned.

I agree. That seems to be what's wrong with the NHS.

Why not?
Too many quick to attack the govt in westminster for any nhs failings.
The welsh assy govt are responsible for nhs wales.
Gethin is the health minister. Buck stops with him and Drakeford appointed him.

But we’ve seen recently that just isn’t the case.
Firstly the Welsh Assembly are reliant on the funding coming from Westminster.
The Welsh NHS has DOUBLED the number of beds as preparation and that is way, way ahead of NHS England.
And then we have the scandal of the testing equipment that the Welsh Assembly ordered only for the UK Government to then gazump them because they had not planned properly and underestimated the importance of testing.
But hey, why let the facts get in the way of a chance to have a pop at the Welsh Assembly.

Some NHS staff with Covid-19 in Wales' worst coronavirus-affected area were given the wrong test results and told they had tested negative for Covid-19.
A total of 10 samples from 96 were mistakenly attributed to the incorrect individuals.
Of the 10 cases, eight related to healthcare workers from the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area, and two individuals from elsewhere in Wales.
Information such as how many had Covid-19 and were told they had tested negative, or vice versa, has not been disclosed.
The health board - covering Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Newport, Torfaen and Monmouthshire - has seen the highest numbers of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Wales.
Public Health Wales say the error was identified "within a few hours", while the health board said the affected staff members were contacted "immediately" and it had taken action to prevent further errors.
A spokesman said: "Since the 14th of March we have undertaken circa 1,600 staff tests.
"As part of our checking process, we identified a local transcribing issue with eight test results that led to us giving staff members wrong results.
"Staff were contacted immediately and the health board has undertaken a detailed review of all staff tests and taken action to remove any further risk of transcribing errors."

Staff with Covid-19 given wrong results
Public Health Wales said no harm was caused to the individuals concerned.
A spokesman said: “During the process of bringing on a new Covid-19 testing platform in the laboratory, 10 samples from a batch of 96 were mistakenly attributed to the incorrect individuals.
“The quality checking processes ensured that the error was identified within a few hours, and the samples were retested to obtain the correct results which were communicated to the clinicians who had requested the tests.
“Of the 10 cases, eight related to healthcare workers from the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area, and two individuals from elsewhere in Wales.
“Public Health Wales acted quickly to establish the facts and was able to confirm that no harm had been done to the individuals concerned. Following established protocols the incident was reported to the Chief Medical Officer.
“We are continually reviewing our systems and processes to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. We continue to have complete confidence in the testing process, and the laboratory staff carrying out the testing procedures.”

The surgeon in the Heath who died, Mr Rathod, led the team that worked on my daughter and the twins 21 months ago. I can’t begin to thank him enough, without him and his team the outcome would have been simply unbearable.
RIP.

Not surprising really - they are all panicking. Drayford and Gething way out of their depth.
Staff at the heath on the covid ward only have standard paper facemasks and as of yesterday did not have the correct ppe.
Staff on the ICU ward do have the correct n95 / ppe kit though
Half the staff on the covid ward are off either self isolating or with covid symptoms.
Gething looked a fool last week - when his ppe order was gazumped by the english nhs who offered more money to the supplier.
The dumb fact that we have welsh nhs competing with the english nhs is just stupid. And the previous poster was right - the WAG strategy on health seems to be - whatever westminister says - then we'll do the opposite.

in March 26 Wales' chief medical officer gave his explanation for the spike in coronavirus around Newport.
Speaking at a press conference Dr Frank Atherton gave a reason for the surge in cases in this particular part of Wales. He said: "Aneurin Bevan has seen a higher number of cases than elsewhere in Wales and there's a few reasons for that.
"First of all, it is closer to England. We know that the 'hotspot' in the UK is around London and so being on the border with England is an issue."

More testing as cases rise
Incident director Dr Robin Howe from Public Health Wales said: “33 further deaths have been reported to us of people who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the number of deaths in Wales to 245.
“We offer our condolences to families and friends affected, and we ask those reporting on the situation to respect patient confidentiality.
“Public Health Wales has conducted more than 15,000 tests for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on more than 13,000 individuals since the start of this outbreak.
“All available data relating to Coronavirus in Wales is now available on a new user-friendly data dashboard, which is available on the Public Health Wales website."
Dr Howe added that the new testing facility at Cardiff City Stadium was now available for key workers, and that people should only attend if invited.

PPE visors update
Earlier, the TUC's general secretary for Wales told BBC Radio Wales Breakfast there were only four visors between 400 nurses at Llandough hospital, something which Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said it was not aware of.
Shavanah Taj has since corrected her comment on the radio and says she meant to say there were four visors between 40 nurses.
