The Virus and our response

Sun Apr 05, 2020 6:43 pm

When we use the term "expert" opinion what do we mean here are some facts:

This as is a new form of virus there are NO experts!
Immunologists and Viroligists are scrambling to do what they can within unknown parameters
The virus mutates
Those good people within the scientific/medical community are doing their best
We have 3rd rate politicians trying to deal with the gravest crisis since WW2
In 2016 a Dry Run exercise was conducted by the Government to look at such a scenario as we have now, the result mass shortages of ventilators and PPE!
Jeremy Hunt was Health Secretary in 2016......silence is golden
The response has been unbelievably inept fitting a disaster movie
Nothing will really change until there is a vaccine.......June/July 2021

So where does this leave us.For a start we should shun all products from China Mers, Sars and now this have all originated in China.Their barbaric treatment of animals for food is shameful and yet nothing is done! Get used to lockdown we in Wales will pay the price for morons in London, after all that is the only place this government cares about.

Most people behave and listen even though it hurts but what about the Bozos who run this country they knew what was coming down the pipe in January, this is the result.

The time will come for an enquiry in to the government's handling of this crisis. We have a long way to go before that. Saying whether they are incompetent or not requires all the facts so its pointless to speculate right now. The thing that this government will probably be judged on more is sadly not the number of deaths that happen but more on how damaged our economy has become. Thousands of lost businesses, tens of thousands thrown in to poverty and a legacy of huge debt for many generations to pay is a likely outcome. This will be the day of reckoning for the government. Churchill was thrown out of government after WW2 and I would not bet against the same happening to Johnson.

its the same everywhere, not just the UK , nobody had enough beds, staff, equipment . you don't have to look hard to find stories of shortages everywhere and some countries even stealing kit that other countries have bought and paid for...
Spains top health guy was saying they wouldn't have more than a handful of cases...couple of weeks later they are in lockdown.. Macron was visiting Italy and kissing their PM on both cheeks while there had already been over 50 deaths there and visiting a nursing home where a patient had died of it....12 days later lockdown … Trump ignored there was a problem... this really is catching everyone out.. and because its new and unlike previous virus to a point there are no experts on it..just experts on virus in general... its a real nightmare for people making decisions in all countries..

No country has the amount of medical equipment just standing there waiting for something like this to happen ,and no extra medical staff just waiting around for this either, everything is ordered just in time like car factories do,and the problem is everyone wants the same thing all at once that's why there is a shortage, there are only so many manufacturers that can produce the volume needed ,and China has lied through its teeth back at end of last year about what was really happening, the only people moaning constantly at the moment instead of coming together are the press and people with a political agenda (LABOUR LOST THE ELECTION GET OVER IT) and people would moan like fook if you had warehouses full of stuff sitting there ,it would be you spent all that money on stuff and it's sitting there ,just like when not enough snow ploughs ,when we have snow , councils won't spend the money to have millions sitting there ,same scenario.

well summed up ion i work in manufacturing and you hit the nail on the head in fact we are producing parts right now for ventilators and medical equipment

i see lots of people are making political statements on whats wrong and right with our response

after all this finishes I just hope they do come out with the truth and find the root cause of this virus . all eyes are on china that s for sure and if it proves this wet market was the cause will the world actually get China to ban these wet markets ?

I agree about anything chinese should be boycotted but most think there should be no blame game
so its you me and donald trump who are calling out the Chinese for the havoc caused
all because they want to eat anything that moves, and they have a shameful record on animal rights compare our abattior's to there live animals tied upside down alive perhaps for days.

Cheers good read
when are the worlds governments going to point a finger if ever,
Michael gove was praising the chinese goverment at a press briefing the other day, unlike trump who layed the blame at China's door.

I think most governments have to toe a fine line at the moment as so much of the kit desperately needed is produced by them...

Monty boy, I’m not having a go but how is it possible to boycott anything Chinese?

I mean even the phone or computer that your posting on contains Chinese components. The TV you watch, etc, etc. The list is almost endless.

In a perfect world maybe but in the real world this is impossible.

Obviously we cannot boycott everything, but as much as possible, is what i am saying.
