Good on you for sharing this too Annis.
As you say, some media outlets are only interested in the bad mews. I read online that there are chunks of light appearing in Spain and Italy but had to scroll through 10!!! negatives before getting to it.

Both BBC and ITV. All they do is pump out negativity!

It's a modern phenomenon; some people want negativity...as proven on here, some thrive on it! :(

On a positive note though, this is great news :thumbright:

Of course the death rate is regrettable and very sad for those who have lost loved ones.

However, a stat that I heard on the radio 2 days ago might put things into perspective. In 2018 during the 'beast from the east' winter storm in March of that year more than 10,000 extra deaths occurred due to flu.

The current predictions for the death rate in the UK from COVID-19 is 7 to 8,000.

It is hard to call the above 'good news' as people still die. But providing we all act responsibly the awful death rate can be cut to a minimum.

Spain

SPAIN has the second largest number of COVID19 recoveries, after China, according to data from the Coronavirus Resource Centre in America.

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, has made available an interactive map, which shows Spain in the top three in the list of countries with the highest number of coronavirus discharges.

People seriously need to stop comparing it to the bloody flu, they're not the same thing.
Whataboutism needs to f*cking stop

Totally agree. In the last couple of weeks evening news bulletins must have been watched by most of the population - by 6.30pm [or 10.30pm] - any remnants of optimism or hope have turned into depression and a lunge for the bottle opener..

It remains the case that 75% of those who die will have died in the next 6-12 months anyway. That's an awful thing to say I admit, and as someone 'borderline' at risk and with a 95yr old mother I don't say that lightly. Folk tell me that I'm not taking this seriously - I certainly am - I just hope they are ready for what's to follow..
