I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE NATIONALITY OF THE PEOPLE DYING IN LONDON SO WE CAN SEE THAT THIS AIN'T PEOPLE FLYING INTO LONDON TO USE OUR HEALTH SERVICE. WHEN I WAS WORKING ON DEVELOPMENTS IN CARDIFF IT WAS NOT UNUSABLE FOR EASTERN EUROPEANS TO PICK UP FAMILY MEMBERS FROM BRISTOL AIRPORT ON A FRIDAY AND TAKE THEM TO HOSPITAL HERE

I had an argument last week with an idiot who said all flights had stopped. I showed him a 5 minute period at Heathrow which showed 18 flights landing which were all scheduled flights from places like Italy and China. Absolute madness. As far as I am aware there are no chartered flights at the moment so these are unlikely to be holidaymakers. More likely to be business passengers which I can't see being essential travel. Should all be cancelled!

Wouldn’t matter if you got a million sigs, it wouldn’t happen.
In Australia flights are fine in (as long as you are a resident) but hotels have been booked up around the airports and they force you into 14 days quarantine. It’s not a suggestion, you are taken there and it is patrolled.

Good shout! Come on bluebirds,it's unbelievable that people have to suggest this action!!!!! This idiocy makes my skin crawl,even bloody turkey has banned flights from these countries, and that includes ours! It's scary to hear this is still being allowed here,we will suffer for it,no doubt. P

Iv just looked on flightradar and there is a plane landing from South Korea as I type
There has also been a flight landing in the hour from Madrid and Gibraltar with more to come from Frankfurt and Paris shortly aswell as Brazil, Los Angeles, Hamburg and God knows where else today.
That's just Heathrow, begars belief

I'm sure most of these if not all,are not open to public, they are airlines sending empty planes to keep airport slots. If they don't, the airport can put the slots on the market for other airlines to snap up.

I, too, find the opening post of this thread a concern. It is indeed strange that flights are coming into Britain from these countries at this time. Surely this can't be right.
In the interests of impartiality it is only fair to point out that tomorrow, Tuesday March 31st 2020, Madrid Barajas Airport has arrivals from:
05:42 [IB42] from Shanghai;
05:50 [IB36] from Shanghai;
12:40 [FR2761] from Bari;
19:00 [FR9601] from Rome;
19:30 [FR5984] from Milan;
22:40 [IB3707] from Naples.

Exactly... Planes will continue to move.. The reL question is are there actually passengers on there... This answer in most likely no.
Have you tried to buy a ticket?

I just did purely out of interest and got all the way to the end, buying a ticket with Lufthansa flying from Rome to Madrid tomorow.
Obviously I didn't buy it but if you want to you can and fly with ease.

Borders shut. Travel banned. Billions under lockdown. The pandemic has delivered an "unprecedented shock" to airlines with huge challenges ahead, the International Air Transport Association says. Demand for airplane travel has plummeted, with two million flights already cancelled, and the IATA estimates the industry will lose $252bn (£202bn) in 2020. Here’s the latest:
American Airlines is requesting $12bnin support from the US government
Passenger numbers in Germany’s Frankfurt airport - a major international hub - have dropped 90.7%
British Airways has suspended all flights to and from London Gatwick’s airport, and routes operating from Heathrow Airport are severely reduced
In the UK, the companies which manage baggage handling warned that they are close to collapse
On Monday, budget airline EasyJet grounded its whole fleet
US Congress last week set aside $50bn for airlines, with half the money offered as loans in exchange for not mandating leave of absence for employees until at least 30 September
Last week, the British chancellor said airlines should not turn to government first when seeking financial help
