It was coming!

If they are stating that the peak of the virus is in 12-14 weeks? This could mean June/July or August. Pre season gone and start of next season?

All because a Chinese meat market!

The 3 people mocking me telling me I look stupid by saying this before it was confirmed. They look a bit stupid themselves now. It was obvious.

Also I don’t think my thread should’ve been locked considering it links to the thread that says “it’s on”

Leon, nobody mocked you for saying the game would be off, talk about the obvious, matches being called off and played behind closed doors in Europe for weeks so there was always a chance, bit like saying we'll win, loose or draw our next game.

People pulled you up for your overdramatic wording with lines such as

'we are in a war' and the 'world will never be the same again:.

It was ridiculous then and its ridiculous now.

Re: BREAKING: “ MATCHES OFF / BUT “

And as a side not what is the point in calling matches off untill April 4th when the (paid) experts have said the worst will come in May. Just aswell cancell the season now and be done with it.

How about doing it now before it gets to the worst?

I said it’s going to change the world as we know it, I didn’t say forever lol. This is going to last Atleast 4-5 months by the looks of it. The postponement until April is very optimistic, almost unrealistic, it will get worse before it gets better.

I said a war is what it’s going to be like, and I still stand by that comment. We are at the start of this. It’s seems that if you’re under 60, with a healthy immune system, there isn’t anything to directly be worried about for your own health, but the problem is obviously spreading it to people with bad immune systems for whatever reason, and in most cases, elderly people who are already in a bad way.

The problem we have currently is the general public (no, not necessarily on this forum) are almost dismissive of the virus because “it’s only the poorly elderly people”, which is a horrible outlook. The outlook shouldn’t be “oh it’s only elderly people”, it should be “protect the elderly people!” And we need to do everything we can do make sure of that, which starts with cancellations of sporting events.

If you think my comment about living like we’re in a war is an over reaction then that’s fine. I don’t think it is an over reaction though.

There’s a fine line between trying to make people aware of the real situation, and making sure people don’t panic, the last thing the world needs is people panicking. But it’s difficult because the truth is important. We can definetely fight this, and finally today we are making the right steps to assure we slow this down enough to help us in the long run.

Iv got asthma, been hospitalised with pneumonia in the last 10 years and have an autoimmune disease so I'm probably one of those most at risk tbh so my thought process isn't a selfish one I promise you.

It's one based on a dislike of mass panic and hysteria. Boris was bang on, we will loose some people, might be me, and that's sad but it's life.

Im following the advice given by my GP, NHS, Employers and the government and im happy with that.
Organisations such as the EFL etc obviously have decisions to make and in the world we live today where everyone needs someone to blame I understand their caution.

The media and other news outlets will all have their own agendas on it.

Re: BREAKING: “ MATCHES OFF / BUT “

A spokesman said: "WRU representatives have been in dialogue with Welsh Assembly Government minister for Health and Social Services Vaughan Gething.

"Throughout the WRU Board have followed the scientific advice of government, Public Health Wales and medical experts and determined that any game would be held or postponed based on that advice.

"Enhanced facilities for hand washing and sanitisation will be available at the stadium and there are measures in place to manage any issues with attendees on the day.

"In addition supporters are urged to follow the advice that is widely available on government websites in relation to the virus."

Minister for Health Vaughan Gething told a press conference that the game will go ahead.

“There is little medical reason at the moment to ban such events,” he said.

You’re completely right. Again I revert to my original point of that it was purely out of good will where I made a thread warning people not to make plans.

In regards to you not being selfish, I wasn’t referring to you, as I said, the general public (not this forum). And it’s true, the general public seem to have the point of view that if it doesn’t directly effect their body, then they don’t REALLY care that poorly people are at a high risk if they are exposed to it.

As a side note, I also have asthma (hence why I’m very interested in what’s going on), and I’m not intending to scare anybody, it’s difficult isn’t it trying to wake people up from being selfish and also making sure you don’t scare anybody at the same time. But yeah there’s nothing to worry about if you do all the right things, it’s just about letting the country’s governments do what they do, and making sure we all do exactly what they say isn’t it. That’s the main issue here, getting the public on side so they listen carefully to science.

I probably write too much sometimes where I only mention the negatives to the point it looks like we’re all doomed. But I think far from that, I’m just coming across like a scare mongerer to some people because I desperately want to stress that we need to be responsible and stuff. Sometimes using threats like “OR this could/will happen if we don’t do this and that” seems to be a natural direction to go to try and help wake some people up. Even my own family members joke about it and aren’t particularly worried.

Anyway I’m ranting now haha. Basically my intentions are purely just to make everyone aware of what is coming to ensure we as a country combat this properly.

The rugby is on because of money.
I read somewhere that on a Saturday of a Welsh rugby international, there's about £100m spent in Cardiff and surrounding areas .

Well no we dont look stupid mate because after you said it was off the efl said it was still on. All guesswork. There are no points for saying I said so. I also apologized and said you were right

I understand that it's partly to do with 'fairness' due to the number of high profile (important) club players/managers now affected

Re: BREAKING: “ MATCHES OFF / BUT “

Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:54 pm

If it wasn’t for the fact that Arteta and Calvert-Lewin had picked it up, then football would have survived this weekend. It’s been postponed early because of the direct link between those players and the game. That’s what’s brought the decision forward for football.

If the rugby and Cheltenham had been arranged for next week then they would not have taken place either.

Enjoy Cheltenham and the rugby - that’s the last meaningful sports action we’re going to see for a while.

Should have been called off well beforehand. As a result all the Scots and distant Welsh people have now arrived in Cardiff.

The WRU and WA are a disgrace

Vaughan Gething and the wru should be ashamed of themselves for not calling the game off before now. Haven't got the brains they were born with.
