We need to work out a way of playing for the whole 90 minutes rather than for only 45 minutes.

Especially against some of the teams above us that we're playing over the next few weeks.

If we can score first we're pretty good at holding onto a lead but way too often this season we've conceded cheap, early goals and found ourselves having to climb a mountain just to get back on level terms.

If we could just manage to perform consistently well for the whole game instead of just half of it we could be in with an outside chance of sneaking into the top 6.

I’ve been thinking of this today mate.
Is it possible that we set up, pretty much for all of the first half, to hold the opposition and then go for them in the second half. Not saying it’s a great tactic as we’ve lost silly goals by doing it, but it’s possible.
I remember NWs sides used to do similar.

I agree it seems like that sometimes and who can forget the away game at Fulham last season where it seemed as if the only aim was to hold on for as long as possible and hope we could nick something rather than trying to win the game from the start against a team already relegated.

Once they scored with about 15 minutes to go we then started throwing everything at them but it was too little too late.

On the other hand we scored early against Forest and Sheffield Wednesday this season away so that would tend to suggest otherwise - I just can't work it out to be honest!

It certainly seems that our "good" 45 minutes is most often in the second half and it just seems that for whatever reason we can't seem to maintain a consistent level of performance for a full 90 minutes.

It was that sort of consistency that was a crucial element of our promotion a few years ago.

Good points
I certainly don’t see us playing this way at home so I’m glad we’re playing a few of our rivals away in the run in. Puts the pressure on then.

3rd place Fulham down to us in 10th, only 10 points separating. Loads of points to play for.
When we trounce Leeds 4-0 Sunday and Preston, Millwall and Brizzle all lose, we'll be in the playoff places.

Realistically, we can smash Leeds by only 3 AND still enter playoff places.
Once Millwall, Brizzle and Preston all lose :)
