He means that they weren’t akin to going forward when they may have....perhaps

Makes no sense.

the pitch was poor so the players were instructed to not take risks.. they took it too literal . after the team talk they were more likely to take a touch , look up and play more measured football..

he has said some pretty confusing stuff but this isn't it.
