MY VIEW: CARDIFF CITY WENT IN TO THIS GAME LOOKING FOR THEI

Sat Mar 07, 2020 4:51 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

CARDIFF CITY WENT IN TO THIS GAME LOOKING FOR THEIR FIRST LEAGUE WIN IN 5 OUTINGS AGAINST BOTTOM OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP BARNSLEY & THEY GOT IT, THANKS TO A GOOD 2ND HALF PERFORMANCE :thumbright: :bluebird:

Over all a poor game and Cardiff goalkeeper Smitthies had hardly anything to do.
Barnsley look like a relegated team.

3 Valuable points for Cardiff City and totally deserved after a very very much improved 2nd half :thumbright:

Callum Paterson, My Man of the Match :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff are now closer to the dream of making a play-off spot :bluebird: :bluebird:

Next up Championship Leaders Leeds United at home next Sunday & hopefully a near sell out home crowd :thumbright: :bluebird:

First-half: Poor half from both clubs, nothing really in it and 0-0 was fair, no urgency from either side.

Second-half: Cardiff were once again a different side and played some good football, which brought home three deserved points :thumbright: :bluebird:

BARNSLEY 0 CARDIFF CITY 2 :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Away Support 820 Cardiff fans :bluebird:

Alex Smithies,Dion Sanderson, Sean Morrison,Curtis Nelson, Joe Bennett,Leandro Bacuna
Will Vaulks, Joe Ralls,Junior Hoilett, Albert Adomah,Callum Paterson.

Subs: Neil Etheridge,Aden Flint,Brad Smith,Marlon Pack,Gavin Whyte,Josh Murphy,Robert Glatzel.

It 43n=mins for anything exciting to happen, Adomah made the Barnsley goalkeeper finally have to save a decent shot.

Both clubs never really created much in the first-half and both goalkeepers had a quite half.
0-0 was fair to both clubs.

H/T 0-0

City improved from the start :bluebird:

Cardiff played some good football :bluescarf:

65th min Will Vaulks seized upon a loose ball inside the area after an almighty scramble and slotted the ball in the net 0-1 :thumbright: :bluebird:

A minute late, A lovely run by Paterson to get in behind the defence after Morrison’s ball over the top and he’s away one-on-one and tapped it home 0-2 :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Joe Ralls replaced by Marlon Pack 81st min.

84th Junior Hoilett came off for Josh Murphy.

A very good 2nd-half performance by Cardiff :thumbright: :bluebird:

Very true, this season seems very unpredictable. We have dropped far to many points recently but others seem to be doing the same and we are still in amongst it.

Another ref turned down a stonewall penalty but for once didn’t matter.

Refs have cost us many points this season but not today. 2nd away win to nil with this official this season.

If only we could’ve taken points from our last 3 home games we would be well in the mix. Unfortunately can see that costing us dear as would’ve brought either Forest or Brentford to within reach

IF this IF that; more apposite is IF we hadn’t conceded early v Wigan & Brentford and put away our chances we’d have more points....but shocking refereeing decisions don’t help.

Mind you we’d probably have missed any penalties awarded :happy1:

Realistically a 6 horse race for the last playoff spot now. Wednesday dropped out of contention today and Brentford sealed their place in the playoffs in my opinion.

Forest potentially could go into freefall and open one other spot but think they'll hang on.

QPR did us a massive favour today. Need one from Derby tomorrow.

Funny how some people went in meltdown about Kadeem Harris at the start of the season. those posts have gone quiet.
