Bobby Decordova-Reid - Fulham

By Glen Williams

Though Bobby Decordova-Reid’s move to Fulham started with a loan in August, his departure from the Welsh capital was confirmed on a permanent basis in January.

The £8m fee for the forward proved to be good business for the Bluebirds as they made back a large chunk of the £10m paid for him back in 2018. His performances this season, too, have perhaps showcased why Cardiff were right to let him go.

Decordova-Reid has scored just five times and assisted once for Fulham this season and hasn’t contributed in front of goal since January 2. However, he could find himself back in the Premier League next season if third-placed Fulham capitalise on their strong form this season.

How many of our players have 5 goals though? and im pretty sure he has been playing partly in midfield.

He would walk into our team and be our best player.

I thought we got back what we payed for reid from fulham but thought it was loan, and payment at the end of the season, is the 8 million a part payment or full payment if so is there any body we have sold as a profit i cannot remeber?

Slightly inaccurate observation re goals/game ratio? It so happens that out of Fulham’s first 14 Championship games Reid only completed 3 full games. He came on as a sub in 6 games and wasn’t used at all in 2 games. In many he had very few minutes on the pitch. It’s probably a very similar pattern throughout the season whereby he hasn’t been played as a regular.

As someone mentioned, still likely to have been our top scorer this season if he had still been here.

I'd have loved to see Reid alongside Tomlin but there you go.

He wanted out,so was for the best I suppose, but agree with the idea of him and Tomlin together would have been something  :old: :bluebird:

I know people say he wanted out etc but many players have wanted out of a club and a move has failed to materislaise and gone on to be a legend at the club, look at Rooney the other night, he tried to push through a move to chelsea on more than one occasion

and lots of examples of players sulking and not showing any sort of form who have wanted to move and have not.
as much as I think that move blew a big hole in our season, a disinterested BDR about the place might have made it worse.

My point exactly, on fat wage and sulking isnt the ideal situation,so best he went imo. :old: :bluebird:

In my opinion Reid is performing a lot more consistently and scoring goals for Fulham than he ever did for City, now why is that ?

he has scored 5 ,the same amount as he did here against much better opposition in roughly the same game time.
but in answer to the consistency.. a wild guess would be ..because he is playing against lesser players this season in the championship and is in a team that cost an arm and a leg .
