Has your regime changed or altered because of the coronavirus outbreak?

"No, we haven’t at present. The only thing it is possibly affecting at the moment is pre-season plans. We’re looking quite far in advance but obviously we have to be prepared. It’s probably affecting what we’re going to do and whether we will go abroad or not. As in day-to-day no [it hasn’t changed anything]. I haven’t been advised by the safety department, Football League or the club to do anything at the moment."

As a football club, you need to be cleaner than clean, don’t you?


NEIL HARRIS:

"Yes, of course."

"We know the implication of the virus and we’ve seen within football clubs how disruptive just a bit of man flu can be. It can put players out of action and disrupt matchday squads, things like that. We have to be mindful, careful and diligent with it and that’s for all of us who have children to look at what’s right and what’s wrong. Of course we have to be clean and tidy, put general precautions in place like washing hands. Everybody down from the cooking staff to the players have to be very careful."

Are you happy with players shaking hands before the game?


NEIL HARRIS:

"Yes, I am. If we or you go down to the pub and see people shaking hands, is it going to affect the players or us on the sideline? We can’t guard against everything at the moment in my opinion. If other teams feel differently I wouldn’t be offended but at the moment I don’t see a need to take it to that level."

Would you understand if fixtures were cancelled like in Italy?

"I’d be disappointed but health and safety has to come first. I’m not an expert and don’t know the ins and outs. I’ve not heard any talk within the Football League to demand the closure of stadiums, played behind closed doors or fixtures being cancelled, we’re not at that level. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that stage."
