Don’t forget Transfer committee formed 4yrs ago Tan, Choo, D

Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:30 pm

Don’t forget Transfer committee formed 4yrs ago Tan, Choo, Dalman and any manager we have at the time all have their say in new signings.

Vassell was injury prone at Birmingham and had been injured for well over a year .

Also for me Vassell has been rushed back.

The whole committee once again have to take the blame for £millions wasted.

So we're excusing Warnock of any blame for signing this lot for decent money ?:

Madine
Murphy
Tomlin (he didn't play him for 2 seasons)
Flint
Glatzel (even though I rate him he doesn't fit with a Warnock team)
Vaulks (didn't play him)
Smithies (didn't play him)
Cunningham
Paterson (bought as a right back !!)
Pack

By my reckoning that's close on £35m+ just in transfer fees  Not bad for an owner that hasn't backed the manager !!

The transfer committee was in charge of getting players that Warnock had identified according to Warnock so where does the blame lie ? It's just too easy to continue to blame the board.

He was still signed as a right back and then after he was signed Warnock realised he couldn't defend !! Imagine if Harris has made such a mistake !!

Be careful, you will be accused of having a Warnock agenda, well that's what I was accused of when I suggested that Warnock has to shoulder a fair share of the blame,he was the only one with real football experience, and therefore was trusted (rightly,or wrongly )by the committee, as he has been in the game for solo long.they are all guilty, but Warnock was very persuasive no doubt. Simple solution would be to appoint a dof. :old: :bluebird:

Let's not forget the transfer committee was set up after VT thought MM was lining his own pockets. It was financial as much as footballing, even though we still don't have a DoF. Hasn't stopped chronic waste of funds and the questions about managers, agents, agents and sons, and managers and sons has it.

I agree Warnock wasted money, but he saved us from relegation and got us promoted and brought in nearly £200mill :thumbright: :bluebird:

No dispute there. But it does show that Warnock was backed (particularly when he was also given £15m for Sala).

Warnock always said that he only signed players he identified, so the transfer committee was really only acting on his instructions. I'm sure there were players we missed out but that's just par for the course and part of good governance.

I don't really know what the transfer committee is for, I'd assume to speak to the manager to serve what we can and cant bring in.

It's been quite clear that these signings have been Warnocks choices.

You cant on one hand blame the transfer committee for wasting money and then on the other hand praise Warnock for bribing in 200m from those players. it makes no sense.

Whatever the committee role they have to listen to the manager in my opinion and imo they backed him, some worked and some didnt but that's football.

yes you were, because you clearly do...
football is not an ideal world.. and only about 50% of transfers across all clubs really work out and tbh ours worked out better than most.... so if your going to make these wild comments i suggest you at the very least compare..pick a club and compare.. money spent , apps made by those players..and achievements of that club...your unfair and are constantly unfair..
there were a number of these sort of articles last year and the year before all had the same club top ?????????????????

but all i read is waste this, mistake that...have a real good look elsewhere.. try our neigh bours down west over the last 3 years to start..now 62 million pounds worth, useless and out on loan

Luke,

The transfer committee was put together over 4yrs ago and our club said so that the managers dont have the final say or all the say and that the Committee as a whole decide on who comes in and out.

The Committee would apparently be involved in every part of the transfers and would have the over all say on everything to do with it.

The committee consists of Tan,Dalman,Choo and whoever the manager is at the time.

I think that's the correct way to do it really, I don't think any manager should have complete control.

I would say maybe they should have been stricter with Warnock as to me they all seem Warnock signings but as you said they have been successful as a committee in terms of getting the right players in for promotion. I don't think the strategy was to far off when we got promoted either.

I think the mistake was after relegation, wrong players, in wrong positions and I think maybe to much faith in Warnock in that respect.

The problem is the lack of football knowledge within the committee and at board level.

I couldn't give two f#cks about other teams, just this one! You sir need glasses, just because I post something about an EX manager, doesn't equate to an agenda  I said nothing but good about him in the past, but if you wish to keep believing I have an agenda, simply don't reply for others then! As my post wasn't directed at you was it? No,but you thought you'd answer for Annis instead, you need to remove your warnock tinted glasses for a while dogfound, I'm not the only one posting content including warnocks cock ups,you continually berate a manager that's here now, during his tenure,at least a lot of us had the decency to wait until the manager had left,do I say you have a Harris agenda then?? I first posted negatively about warnock after the swansea no show!! When it became obvious he had no longer the ability to get the team to run through brick walls for him, that's my opinion, like it or not,and believe me,when Harris has had the summer and pre season,I will be just as negative about him,if after 12 or so games in we look in trouble, but not before,as to me that's not supporting the club,if you don't like what I post, try ignoring the post? ? :old: :bluebird:

Surely our transfer committee is not unique?
Owners, chairmen etc would want and expect some input before laying out huge sums of money.
