Sturridge scored 67 goals in 160 appearances during a six-year stay at Liverpool

Former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has left Turkish side Trabzonspor eight months into a three-year contract.

The club said his contract had been terminated by mutual consent.

The England international - who has also played for Manchester City, Chelsea, Bolton and West Brom - won the Champions League with Liverpool last season before being released.

The 30-year-old had played 16 times this season and scored seven goals.

He has a calf injury from what I've heard,not anything long term, likely 3 weeks tops? Strange one though,8 months into a 3 year contract?? Still would have him here,my mate is a besiktas fan,and said he was really skilled and liked, 7 in 16 is not too shabby,trouble is in Turkey if you have a falling out,its usually curtains! The player a few of us would have liked here,tolgay arslan is a prime example,was revered by besiktas, had words with owner,and was promptly told he would never wear the shirt again! And boom gone!! :old:

I don't think we would have been able to play him anyway... you can sign out of contract players but to play them they would have needed to be out of contract prior to deadline day..

Yeah you are correct, but he cannot play for anyone this year now anyway :roll:
