Is anybody a little worried? Has anybody looked at the bigger picture in regards to this squads lack of quality, Tomlin as the only real player who can unlock a defence and make something out of nothing, defenders inconsistent and leaking goals for fun.
I’m not in panic mode yet, but allow me to put next season in perspective.
Our only winger that a lot of people here would consider anything close to consistent is Mendez-Painf, who to be frank wasn’t that consistent himself either. As far as I’m concerned our other wingers are lacking, each at different things. You don’t need me to explain that, it should be self explanatory.
Our striking options are extremely poor. That’s enough said about that.
Our midfield is still in question, Vaulks showing some consistency, whilst most agree Pack is too slow, Ralls (according to reports previously) could very well not be here come next season, and Bacuna not really in the managers plans at the moment, most notably choosing to play him Right Back.
I think there’s a lot of agreement that Morrison/Nelson is the best partnership out of what we have, but Nelson still not quite at it for some reason despite him making huge blocks in the box at times and covering the deep balls very well sprinting to clear it rather than an opponent latching onto a basic ball over the defence. But I think most fans agree there’s still a lack of comfort with Nelson at the back, as if he’s a make shift option right now.
My main concern for next season is, if Harris replaces the players that we all agree need to be improved, who’s to say the new players end up better? Especially on a budget now, we aren’t spending big money, a lot of Harris’ transfer business will be restricted to a certain price range, and most likely players from leagues below (which Warnock did well for the time he was here), we don’t have Warnock anymore. We have a fairly new manager who hasn’t the experience of what a side like us needs. He doesn’t have the “Warnock” factor that would typically drive a target over the line, as they may want to play for Warnock.
My worry is we start next season with a couple more signings similar to Gavin Whyte and Nelson (not same players, but similar in ability)
I’m concerned we may replace some of our players who occasionally get a goal and an assist to win our games 1-0 etc (for example Murphy’s recent goals, Mendez-Laing etc), and replacing them with cheap transfers who don’t even score 1, who look “up for it” but struggle to offer assists and goals like Whyte has.
What happens if we get it wrong in the transfer window? I think our squad - for the first time in a good few years - is one dodgy transfer window away from being a relegation side.
Like I said, I’m not in panic mode just yet because there’s nothing to suggest Harris won’t sign decent players, but. Yeah. Just something I thought about.

I'm concerned for next season, I really dont think Harris is a very good manager and I can see us along the lines of Millwall when he was in charge next season.

If what's been said on here is true and harris knows he has little to no money for the summer window then we will have a bad time of it next season . Not sure with the sala situation if that 3 window ban does happen we are done for

im not saying we are great. but if you want top players you generally have to pay top dollar as well.

I think it’s natural to be worried I would expect we will lose some of our better players and replace with lower league gambles. Harris has already stated he only knows the British market which limits us massively.
I can see a struggle towards the bottom as I cannot see him attracting decent enough players and a lack of a long term plan to the way he wants us to play.

yeah i agree it is a big worry. you look at some of the teams who were "too good" to go down, Sheffield clubs, Wolves etc, Boro are looking close to it now, QPR have been fighting down there the past few seasons.

We will probably do what we have done for the majority of the history of this club.
Bump along in the second tier of English football.

lets just hope we don't bump along down to the 3rd tier again.. because the difference between being where we are , outside chance of play offs and having serious concerns about being caught by the bottom 3 is only 3 or so wins...

Small lower league crowds could still generate an atmosphere in ninian park sometimes.
In the Cardiff City stadium I shudder to think what it would be like.
