BREAKING NEIL HARRIS:

Neil Harris:

Friday 28th February 2020

“We are a team that will be feared if we start getting closer to the top.”

Neil Harris:

“Brentford are a really good side with a front three who are very strong at this level. “

"They’ll pose a threat to us, and the boys are all on the training ground looking ahead and on towards Saturday."

“We currently have a thin squad and we will be up against a quality Brentford side, one of the best in the Championship. “

“It may look like a missed opportunity from our last match that we weren’t able to close that gap, but you’ve got to look at the positives and say ‘Brentford are six points ahead of us, so this is an opportunity to close the gaps on them’.

“We’ve been working so hard to try to get the results, and now we just need to build on that hard work and push ourselves.

“We’re a team that will be feared if we start getting closer to the teams above us, and the competitive nature of the Championship means that a string of good results in a row can really propel you up the league table."

With Saturday's match providing the Bluebirds with an opportunity to return to winning ways and take points from a side above them in the league table, Harris continued by commending the attitude of his squad during the week, saving particular praise for newly-returned midfielder Joe Ralls...

“In this squad we have a group who know their standards and can see how far they’ve come in the last few months. They know what’s expected from them by myself and the group as a whole, which is why we’re looking for another positive reaction on Saturday.

“They’re hungry to do well. They want to be successful, and know that the best way to do that is to continue building on results.

Harris concluded: “It’s been great having Joe back in the group. Obviously he’s not played the most football in the last four months really, which is why we’ve been careful in how we reintroduce him to the group.

“His time spent on the pitch has been another step in the right direction for him, and he’s been as important off the pitch for us as we hope he will be on it."

I wish he'd make his mind up. One moment he's complaining that we have a bloated squad, next he's saying it's too thin!

Reading Harris's statement it seems that he was getting his excuses in early I must say Harris seems like a manager who is chasing his tail

Re: BREAKING NEIL HARRIS:

I wouldn’t take everything a Manager says literally.. their MO at these press meetings is to say a lot of words that mean very little.

They’re a good side, well organised, some good players..... Every manager says this about their opposition.
We know what’s at stake, chance to close the gap, looking forward to the match.... blah blah blah. But we’re shite, not good enough to close the gap, we know what’s at stake EVERY game!
Exactly what you said, lots of words saying nothing.

Brentford got a few injuries tomorrow so that could assist us :ayatollah:

If Harris came out and said to the press ‘ tell you what lads, we’re shit’, some fans would be delighted whilst at the same time calling for his head. He can’t win..

If he's said `tell you what lads, we're shit, we can't hit a barn door with a banjo, our crossing and dead ball play is atrocious and decision making is shocking so I've had them in doing extra work back to basics stuff` Then I'd have the utmost respect for him.

A bit unfair on Harris, as he isn't on the pitch at any point, and if fans feel we need training on crossing, corners free kicks etc, then we are in a very bad place,as surely to be playing proffessional football, these skills should be already in a players dna? I guess he'd love to perhaps tell the truth on certain players, but has to be seen to be proffessional, what about our players then? Do they have your respect? As it's these same players that are struggling to string two passes together lately, but only Murphy and Glatzel seem to be singled out? (At least more often than most,oh and flint, whose not been in the team of late)whilst I don't advocate booing our own,at least on here we can air our views and views on them, without resorting to jeering/booing at games, serves no purpose, except to deal a blow to some player who is struggling. :old: :bluebird: As if any manager, including warnock has ever come out with what you want, don't forget warnock left a squad capable of top two!! His words, but so far removed from actuality

Then as you say we are in a bad place because it's not just my opinion that we need training on crosses corners free kicks, it's a fact, clear to see. Even the long throws, rubbish. You could see Tuesday how much we're relying on them by the urgency to get a towel in place. Long throws should be a bonus, used occasionally to mix it up, not a cast iron tactical play used every time despite the fact the defenders are ready for it :banghead: :banghead:
I don't expect him to slate the players in public because as you say that'd be unprofessional, but I hope he tells them behind closed doors.

Fair enough  as you say I would like to think he does tell them, maybe he does, and some players can't actually do the basics he requires? I'm pretty sure all the failings you highlight, must be part of the training regime,I totally agree about the long throws, warnock did similar with mozza.where it becomes ineffective for us. :old: :bluebird:

Re: BREAKING NEIL HARRIS:

That’s it. If the players are lacking in certain qualities, what can Harris do. He needs time anyway, and if no can afford him that, that’s their problem. Keep on the with the mither..

Don't want to get on Harris s back ,but I have to say this job is too much for him ,we needed a bigger personality

Such as ? He wasn't my 1st choice either,we had personality in warnock, and he left as soon as he realised the squad was not good enough, but also aid they were capable of a top two finish,if that were anywhere near the truth, why did he leave? The sad part is Harris has his hands tied, with a bang average squad, and no financial back up.but anyway, I will give Harris the summer, and 10 games of the new season, when we will have a picture of where he is likely to take us. :old: :bluebird:

Of course the teams above us will fear us if we start taking points....basically said the same before the Stoke game and look how we played.

More contradicting sound bytes from Harris.

Last time he said teams will fear us we drew to Wigan and went on to lose the following two games.
