A forum for all things Cardiff City

VINCE ALM:
To all you positive Cardiff Fans still out there; I have not forsaken you; I have not deserted you; Together we believe:
Looking on social media after the NARROW LOSS (Yes a narrow loss) I thought we had just been relegated out of the entire league! The sad thing many of those having a go claimed to be season ticket holders who couldn't be bothered to go! Very sad if true you support your team when they are great or when they are crap that was supporters do. There is nothing wrong with having a negative opinion about a performance my glass is always half full and some fans are always half empty that is life and human beings, but at least support the team when on the pitch.
Personally I still think the football is getting better very slowly and Joe Ralls for me made a difference when he came on others might think differently. Warnock assembled an experienced squad of a type of player to play one way which has proved very successful for him over the years. It is an old fashion type of game and a different way of approaching a game and playing it to the pretty stuff everyone is attempting to play now. I have watched a fair few championship games on sky this season and the standard is pretty low and most games are a much of a muchness for entertainment in my opinion. To change the style of football will not happen over night and players also have to leave before we can bring replacements in.
Tuesday night game just shows we are lacking that bit of quality in the final third as we have all season. Tomlin helps out with the creativity but with him missing at the moment it will take a game or two for the side to adjust which I am sure they will to fill the gap. Overall I thought both sides tried to play some football and if more supporters had made an effort to turn up with the ebb and flow of the game the atmosphere could have been better than it was. The bitterly cold evening didn't help matters either.
Booing your own players I have never got? again it is up to the individuals but whether your frustrated or not they are our players and booing them will only make it worst. Josh Murphy can play decent football and although his radar was a tad out Tuesday he still managed to get one or two decent crosses into the box. Many supporters are just waiting for him to make a mistake they have a real downer on him at the moment. we all seen last season what he can do when he has footballers around him and has linked well with Tomlin over the last month. He has had to come to terms with the loss Reid, Arter, Manga, Camarasa, Gunnarsun etc all can play the ball on the deck to a good level.
My expectations at the start of the season after a relegation and many comings and goings was to be at the right end of the table above 12th which we have achieved to date.
Cardiff haven't been a great watch at times this season I agree but it is not as bad as many of you think. We are all experts now through the amount of football shown on TV and opinions shared on social media etc. but every team is not like Barcelona Liverpool, Man City Real Madrid, Man Utd, PSG, and Clydebank ( Paul Cummings)
Please If you are a season ticket holder try and make an effort to turn up and SUPPORT the team when you are there until the end of the season you will be surprised what difference that makes. You never know when we could have another spell in the bottom two divisions, and believe you me if you thinks this is bad try 18 years at that level!
Support the team fancy a 9. 1 Win for us Saturday against Brentford

I like Vince but not sure why he feels the need to post such things to split fans. I can see it from both ways but our fans seem to be OTT one way or the other. People are allowed to notice negatives and comment on them.

Agree with everything you said about supporting the team , it is going to take time but until we have a manager who currently instills less enthusiasm and personality as Russel Slade and Paul Trollope combined , its hard to believe we are going anywhere but just stagnating.
Id ask you to consider the good managers we have seen over the years and their belief transmitted to the fans and the players and compare that to NH.

Vince, its social media mate, it's not real !!! I Haven't heard one thing from the crowd whilst at the game towards Harris or the club. A few ironic cheers from about 30 fans for the Murphy sub is barely worthy of lecturing.
I don't consider Morrison passing to Nelson to pass it to Pack to pass it back to Morrison is an improvement to our football. With Morrisons ability to defend if he could pass he'd be in the premier league, but he can't. Its slow, ponderous and just waiting for a calamity.
Harris either did a good job or fell into the formation that maximised the talents of Tomlin. It left the centre of midfield undermanned but it worked. Playing Paterson or Ward instead of him was plain crazy it didn't work on Saturday nor Tuesday, lets see if he continues with it on Saturday.
The fans are not stupid, he came from a far smaller club with little management pedigree and no connection with the the club or fans and barely emits confidence or swagger so of course it's going to be tougher for him to win over the fans.

I watched the first half of Millwall against Birmingham last night and it was absolutely dreadful. It made our performance the night before look like something Barcelona would serve up. We are in transition and have to give it time to develop. Hopefully a change of playing staff in the summer will improve things for next season. In the meantime let's get behind the team for the rest of the season and see where it takes us

Having a good moan is beneficial at times... but it’s a fine line between that and boring the tits off everyone.

Because our history is comprised of much more failure than success im afraid in my experience the fan base is very intolerant and impatient
"same old Cardiff" hear we go again".comments I often hear.weve been alive basically since the year 2000 after being dead in the 80s/90s but alas trying to gain a foot hold in the premier league and lift a trophy is beyond us.so it carrys on we what we've done for the majority of our history bump along in the second tier of English football.

I think that apart from the negative reaction to Murphy's substitution - and considering this was more to do with his complete lack of effort and commitment as opposed to actual performance - our supporters in the stadium have remained remarkably up-beat.
Where the problem lies is that especially without Tomlin our supporters know we are utterly toothless and lacking any cutting edge up front. We don't look like we can create a chance in open play, have not a single player -Tomlin apart- who looks remotely comfortable on the ball, and has the pace and energy required at this level.
I think we're all resigned to a tailing off of results in the next couple of months, with a hope among us all that a significant number of new faces can rejuvenate the squad.
Harris has shown his intentions with the January signings so there's room for optimism..

Vince, with regard to the number of supporters at the game on Tuesday night it was not only because we were on TV and the weather was bad, it is also that the football the fans have seen lately is driving them away. I am in the Canton Stand and I have never seen people sitting down during the game and just not bothering to watch, but I did see this on Tuesday. I am a season ticket holder and go to every game, to be honest Vince I cant see how you can say that Murphy was a tad off on Tuesday, he has been crap for weeks. You blame the lack of good players around him, isn't it time he actually did something himself. he cant beat a man, cant tackle and shows a complete lack of interest. I have followed City since the late 60s and I can honestly say I have never heard any City player being jeered when taken off. It has happened twice this season both times to Murphy, that might tell you something. If Murphy cant be arsed then why should the fans. I hope he is never picked again for City.

The standard of championship football this year is dire to watch. So many negative managers and teams in this league.

I have been supporting Cardiff a long time. My first game was in 1969,a 0-1 loss at home to Norwich. I don't agree that there is some moral obligation to go to games and support the club unreservedly if we are crap. When we are really bad I tend to vote with my feet and not go. To be honest we have been a bit boring this season and I can't blame anyone, season ticket holder or not for not going. We are only six points off the playoffs trouble is we will be only six points off the playoffs when the season is over.

Like I said we were shite in the 80s/90s average support for the 2 decades 4500 .since moving to new stadium better standard of football average support 20000

I remember the dark days of the 70s 80s etc Including the awful Durban years

and that’s probably why I’m quite happy with the state of affairs atm.

I get OPs commitment but jeez OTT or what?
Get a grip. We all want City to win and play decent football and so when we don’t do either fans are entitled to bitch and let off steam.
