Josh Murphy

I have been watching City Since the late 60s and I can never remember the fans cheering when a player has been taken off. It has happened twice this season to Murphy. He is possibly the most useless player I can remember representing us. He should never wear our shirt again. Get rid ASSP, but there again who would want such an excuse for a footballer. He could be charged with impersonating a footballer but he would get off with it as he is nothing like a footballer.

I actually think he’s scared to get hurt. In 50 years of watching football and the City I have never seen such a gutless player in all my life no balls whatsoever.
I have seen every game he’s played for us and I have never seen him have a good game. I would say pound for pound he has to be up there as one of the worst signings we have ever made.

things have changed and not for the better... I never thought I could think this but I would take NP, 4th division , and 3k decent people over this all day every day. cheering a substitution and not for the first time either ffs..

The cheering the sub was embarrassing. The last time I recall was a particularly poor game from Whitts (a genuine modern day legend) and Bellers gave the crowd stick. Its what I expect now.

I know Junior has history with us, but he appears to wear a clock of invisibility when it come to any (constructive) criticism

Back to Josh, he is never a 442 right midfielder, he is a 433 wide forward. Expecting him to get "stuck in" is pointless. He is an artist, a poet and probably a jolly decent chap.
IOM, We'll probably always struggle to get classy players because we are a "up and at them" club. The Canton would freak if we started to play like Barnsley or Brentford. Callum Paterson is a legend because of an attitude not his footballing abilities.........

McPhail, Whitts, Murphy vs Gunnar, Paterson. Our fans will always chant for the later. I used to think it was the physicality of Rugby that drew us there, but the Jacks seem to like footballers over triers

Don't buy into this artist persona. Artists like Ronaldo and Messi they work. Watch Sterling and see how he chases back when he loses the ball.They have more skill in one toe than Murphy but the main difference they work. Bellamy to be fair was another players who gave 100% . It is the minimum to expect players to chase to get the ball back , if they lose it

The worst thing about Josh Murphy is that hes more than capable of being a top player. Hes just lazy that's his problem, watch him when he cant be bothered to beat his man, he will just kick the ball straight at his marker, he did it last night with Ben Watson which led to their goal.

I know that NML can be inconsistent but I lost count of the times I said last night when JM either pondered or lost the ball - I’d love to have seen Mendez Laing in that position as if there’s a gap, he’ll certainly try to power into it.

Josh Murphy is a very frustrating player the supporters know that he has the quality to tear up defenses in the championship but he keeps blowing hot and cold. we should get behind these player and support them through thick and thin. Josh can be if not as good as Tomlin but he needs to perform more consistently. But jeering him when he was taken off was poor by some sections of the crowd.

He's a great player Murphy..just needs to work harder at his game. He gets nothing from Bennett, who for me is being carried.
Theres one or two also not good enough in midfiled. Any team with Ralls or Bennett is likely to struggle because they make far too many errors at this level.

Steve Lynex had far more abuse than Murphy. I remember one game he got stretchered off and the whole Bob Bank was cheering in celebration. I felt gutted for Lynex that night! To be fair, he always gave 100% and he turned into more of a cult figure.
In recent times when Ole took Whittingham off he was also roundly booed. I was genuinely disgusted by his treatment that day.
