The Cardiff-held fixture attracted an audience of 490,854 people in Britain.
That makes it only the 7th most watched game in the Championship up to February 9, the latest date for which figures are available.
Cardiff’s televised games have averaged 291,994 viewers each on average, which is the sixth highest total in the Championship.
Swansea have averaged 265,392 viewers per game, the 10th highest in the division.

The South Wales derby is both Cardiff and Swansea’s most-watched game this season.
The Cardiff-held fixture attracted an audience of 490,854 people in Britain.
That makes it only the 7th most watched game in the Championship up to February 9.
It attracted a bigger audience than 10 Premier League matches, including Leicester v Tottenham.
The reverse fixture in Swansea attracted the next biggest audience with 440,400 viewers.
Cardiff’s next biggest game was the visit of Fulham which was watched by 326,707 people.
For Swansea it was their trip to West Brom which had an audience of 340,900 people.
Overall, Cardiff’s televised games have averaged 291,994 viewers each on average, which is the sixth highest total in the Championship.

Leeds top that list with an average of 423,229 viewers for each game.
Liverpool is the most watched team in the country, though.
An average of 1,662,801 people in Britain tuned in to watch each of their televised league games in 2019/20.
It puts them comfortably ahead of Manchester United, whose games have drawn an average of 1,520,948 viewers.
It’s a predictable top two given that Liverpool and United have the two largest fan bases in the country.
It’s a predictable top six as well, seeing as it’s made up of the clubs routinely called “the big six” - Tottenham (1,286,847 viewers per game), Chelsea (1,143,175), Manchester City (1,136,054) and Arsenal (1,117,644).
The most watched game in all divisions this season is Liverpool v Manchester United.
A massive 2,642,336 people tuned in to watch the two sides on January 19, according to the figures.
Liverpool v Manchester City was the next most watched game with 2,548,651 viewers on November 10.
Norwich City v Manchester United had 2,217,576 viewers on October 27.
Manchester United v Chelsea was watched by 2,183,019 people, Manchester United v Liverpool by 2,139,490 people, and Tottenham v Liverpool by 2,063,426 people.

BARB’s available figures run from the start of the season until February 9 and do not include games shown on Amazon Prime.
