It’s not all over

Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:46 pm

Despite the disappointment of today, particularly with Preston winning, it’s defo not over yet. The coming midweek fixtures sees those around us having tough fixtures so although it’s currently all doom and gloom if we can beat Forest we could again only be 3 points off the playoffs.
With Adomah and Tomlin out we need to change. My team therefore is:
Smithies

Richards
Morrison
Nelson
Bennett

Bacuna
Vaulks
Ralls

Hoilett
Patterson
White

I like your optimism but we are shite.

That's a front three to strike fear into opposition that's for sure.

Its not all over because of one loss. Loosing Tomlin on the other hand.......

It's losing Tomlin. It is all over - we are not good enough for promotion this season ( especially with Tomlin out for at least 6 weeks). Mid table mediocrity will at least bring my blood pressure down! Lol
Ps Still - not all bad news - Cheltenham Festival is less than 3 weeks away :)

You're joking aren't you?

Please tell me you're joking about a front three of Hoilett, Paterson and Whyte striking fear into any opposition above Welsh League level.

Paterson has done really well but he's not a natural forward. Hoilett has been a shadow of the player he was two seasons ago and I honestly can't think of one influential thing that Gavin Whyte has done in any of his appearances this season - he's the very definition of a League 1 player who's out of his depth in the Championship.

You didn't say we were (quote) "shite" when we won 3-0 the other week; but I guess it's a mood for every result

If (and there's no guarantee in this Division) Harris and his team repeat anywhere near the form of his tenure to date, we will be right amongst the top six and in with a shout of promotion play-offs

I appreciate that some don't want it to happen but for the life of me, I'll never understand why any real supporter would preach such doom and gloom after a single result

Tuesday will now be even more interesting, as the team now have a point to prove...and in front of their own supporters too!

A tough series of games to come over the next few weeks but ones where positive results will see us push ahead and into the mix as the season draws to a conclusion

A win against Forest and the points gap only 3 points. Looking at this week's games makes for interesting times. C'mon city...

I thought the season was over after Millwall, but i am the ultimate pessimist (50 years as a Cardiff & Wales fan)

If we were in the top 6 we would need 4 points from the next two games to maintain 2 points per game. As we have to catch up 6 points we do need 6. Do that and its a fun last 10 games.

Forest will come here with a do not lose mentality, they can afford to do that. Its whether we can create a new system that can create chances without Tomlin. Brentford have Luton away, a loss there and their confidence may be on the rocks.

I wanted to say we bounced back after a disappointing loss last time, but we never, we drew, drew, drew then beat West Brom.

Two games at the CCS !!!!! IT'S NOT OVER, c'mon :ayatollah:

Exatly tomlin is the only creative outlet we have the line up what's been posted 3 dm and a forward line of another 3 midfielders Patterson has done well but hes no out and out striker hoilett has been poor all season and whyte theres a lot of try in him but hes not championship level .. Tomlin gone 2 months is a huge blow

A team with 6 midfielders and no creativity what so ever have said it what feels like a million times we have one attacking creative threat that being tomlin saturday just showed how poor we are without him near the team

What is a natural forward then? He wins headers, runs the channels. And is usually in the right place to tap the ball home.

Fed up of all this bollocks about him.

Yes I was joking Davids.

We seem to be struggling in the attacking areas especially without Tomlin.

Whyte for all his running around offers next to nothing in the final third. Hoilett very hit and miss with his performances and for me Patterson isnt up to it upfront if you want to play any kind of decent football.

The only wide player fit who can offer something when on form is Murphy who can beat players and score goals, sadly he's to hot and cold. We are missing NML more than I expected to be honest.

Can only see us getting 6-8 points from the remaining fixtures .
