JOSH MURPHY:

“I’m enjoying my football at the moment,” he continued. “I think everyone can see that and long may it can continue.

“Everyone’s playing with confidence at the moment and we’re on a bit of a roll so we just need to keep that going. We’re moving on with our campaign with another big game against Stoke City on Saturday.

“Coming off the back of our recent form we’ll be thriving in the build-up to Saturday’s match. We’re only three points off the Play-Offs now so we’ll want to keep the momentum going.

“It’ll be good to get time during the week to rest without having a midweek fixture. Everything we do will be with the trip to Stoke in mind as we look for another positive result.”

Good to see our most talented footballer is enjoying playing again, thanks to our Manager giving him renewed confidence. We need all our players at their best if we are to get into the playoffs!

Our most talented footballer? Not for me,that crown belongs to Tomlin at present, he will have to keep up the good form to try and take that crown imho. :thumbright: :old: :bluebird:

How anyone can not get enjoyment from playing the sport they love for massive wages, is beyond me but hey. Good to see him talking positively again, only means good things for Cardiff City

Agree, he just sings when he’s winning.

When it’s not going for him he just drops his head and sulks. He needs to dig in and work.
He has the talent for sure.

That is the difference between fans and professional footballers We love the game and could not think of any better thing to be paid for Having known a number of professionals not many loved the game of football and most don’t even watch the game now they are retired from the game My son was offered a pro contract in the national league all be it not massive money but decent He did not take it up and within a year gave up playing

Fair point but you'd think they had some love for it to get into football in the first place.

At some stage hey loved it from what I have seen it is when they are kids and they play for fun I have seen many a talented kid join our academy and you see the joy of playing football draining out of them For some if it was not for the potential of earning lots of money they would just walk out of academy football I am sure like me you would have given everything to just be good enough to give it at least a try

Fair enough mate, I suppose whatever you are doing, certain circumstances can arise that make you fall out of love with it.

That’s it. As much as we revolve around money, at the end of the day, if your passion and love for something gets drained then it is extremely difficult to find another source of motivation. These footballers are trained to play football, not find a source of motivation. That’s the job of the coaches and sport psychologists. From Murphy’s perspective he’s left a club where he had good relationships with people (Maddison & Gunn - although they’ve left too) and had sentimental value to (he and his brother came through the academy) to go to a premiership club but a year later, they switch places. Not saying he’s full of regret because he knew the risks but it’s probably made it harder for him to become motivated this year and his confidence has clearly dropped. But we as fans can see that he’s quality. He needs that confidence consistently and I think that motivation will come with that sense of confidence. That’s why it’s important that we as fans show our support for him rather than criticising him every time he loses the ball. He needs to retain that passion for the game that the fans always have.

Tomlin has only performed in the last few months of his 3 year contract and has never played in the Premier League so Murphy is by far our most valuable and talented player if Harris can continue to get him performing that’s why he cost us £11m while Tomlin cost £2m

Whilst I accept your opinion,I don't agree, especially with the price tag bit! He is definitely our best wide man at present, but as for footballing brains, and execution, tomlin is miles ahead imho, what happens if he has another dip in form? Will he strike the same forlorn pose he has shown? He looks as if he is starting to enjoy the game again ,and I hope it continues,as you have said,he is by far our most valuable player (in costs yeah!) He needs to show why he is worth that figure in my eyes.all opinions as I say,but with respect I am still waiting for him to tear up the championship, so let's hope his form continues as long as possible,do you really believe tomlin is only worth 2m?? If we could buy 11 players of his undoubted ability, for 2m a piece,we'd have already pissed the league  :old: :bluebird:

Tomlin isn't exactly who you should be using as a yard stick. Josh got left out for a number of games and has bounced back within weeks, Lee went on a bakery bender for 2 years. we need both
