“ Two very big positives from last night “

Two of our ACCADEMY players making their debuts last night :thumbright: :bluebird:

Joel Bagan and Thomas Sang both made massive contributions to the game and never looked out of place either of them.

As we saw more of Bagan for me he Def deserves to be the match day squad away at Luton and Sang deserves another chance this season.

I am very pleased that Neil Harris played them last night :thumbright: :bluebird:

Joel Bagan last night started for Cardiff City :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Agree with you there Annis, Neil Harris should have taken Bagan off earlier when he went down with cramp, extremely poor man management, Bagan was still trying to shake it off when they scored their 1st, the only thing that really let the lad down. His vision and link up with Murphy was fantastic, Tom Sang worked hard through midfield chasing down balls and had a couple of cracking shots just unlucky not to find the back of the net, future looks good IF we can keep hold of these lads and not sell them like we did with Matondo

Bagan for me looked really good and picked out some great passes.

Excellent, well done Neil harris and cardiff city for bringing these youngsters through shows the academy and years of investment is starting to work under 14s ,16s,18s are competing very well with the larger teams ,under 14s beat Chelsea only last week ,you only here doom and gloom about the academy but it takes time to bring them through and hopefully its the start of more players finally coming through

It’s more the case of our new players not being able to play because they signed after the replay then we’ll done Neil Harris.

Well done to Harris and the two youngsters :ayatollah:

I'd love to see more of these youngsters as the season comes to an end. Seems to me it's likely we are going to end up very much mid-table. So once the play-offs is no longer a possibility, Neil Harris should give these lads a chance. I'm sure the fans would get right behind them and they may give us some optimism for the future at the end of a very average season.

it really is not about how good the results are mate . its about the 2 or 3 individuals within that team that have a genuine chance.. its possible to have a good team but not one player who will be good enough and equally a poor team with a future star..

I started a post last night about Began, stating how great it is that he appeared to have such a positive introduction, but expressing my concern on what happens to him now with the acquisition of our two new full backs?
Third choice and banished to the youngsters team again, what will that do for his confidence?

Re: “ Two very big positives from last night “

Matondo wasn’t sold on, due to the rules clubs like Man City who have elite academy’s can take without bidding for a minimal compensation any youngster from a lesser academy.

It’s an absolutely backwards rule, Cardiff fought it and got £500k I believe for matondo but originally would have got around £50k

maybe .
pretty sure the boy was fully aware that last night was a one off. and going from reports he has taken the opportunity and at least put it in Harris head he can do a job. if I was this kid id be chuffed I hadn't let myself down and my confidence would be sky high not on the floor..

Didn’t they sell him a year later for 10 million? That’s wrong I think, we should get half if the cat a club sells them on almost straight away....

Agreed. Brad Smith can also play on the left wing and with our wingers struggling to consistently perform, I think there is an option for Brad Smith to play on the wing with Bagan behind him at left back.

I'm just pleased he was able to put in a good performance and we have a youngster showing the potential to make the step up into the first team.

Great to see.

Both played well but I thought Bagan had an excellent game. In fact it's a shame that he couldn't stay on for the full game.

Would have liked to have seen the young winger get a chance especially as Gavin Whyte was virtually anonymous yet again during his time on the pitch.

Perhaps if the young lad had come on during extra time his pace could have made a difference against a tiring Reading defence?

Let's be honest - the season is over now so I'm really hoping we get to see some more youngsters given first team minutes during the rest of this season.

That's the camp I'm in, being totally realistic and recognising we are not going down or up, so perfect opportunity to pick a few of our brightest youngsters and giving them a run of a few games with the senior guys in 'meaningful ' fixtures.
Slightly concerned that the guy from Wolves & the Aussie from Bournemouth, will likely block players like Coxe & Began's development.

It’s the truth you can say it’s negative if you want?

The players did well I’m not suggesting they never but I’m not going to go saying it’s a master stroke from the manager like he thought long and hard about it he had no
choice.

At least he gave chances to and actual youngster and not a 21 year old who’s not good enough for this level like Coxe.

What do you mean he had no choice? The manager could of picked ANY of the squad ,bar the 3 new signings, but he CHOSE to give two promising youngsters their opportunity to play for the 1st team squad, nobody is asking you to praise, but be truthful,Harris has said he wanted to bring some youngsters through, and has kept to his word  can't recall Warnock doing much for the younger players at the club.for me it's a positive step forward, both for those boys who played, and for the club in general imho. :old: :bluebird:

We’d just played four games in eleven days. He didn’t have the choice of every player they where rested for a reason.

Anyway like I said they played well and we will see if my thoughts are right or wrong if they get picked and played again.

IMO Sang should be in every squad for the rest of the season and even starting games the way our wingers have been under performing

Fair play, but Warnock didn't even play the youngsters in the cups, imho I would like to see some kids in and around the squad more often.we can only hope so  :old: :bluebird:

Re: “ Two very big positives from last night “

I thought Harris said he would focus on bringing in youth players but the only way we did that is the cup games, why not try out a few maybe in midfield or a striker. even tan would be onboard with it because we won't spend huge amounts of money if we promote within our academy. Now that we have nothing to lose this season we need to try out new ideas and new youngsters.

We are not going to make the playoffs neither are we going to get relegated so give Began, Sang and Mayembe a game at Luton to be able to assess them properly. Be bold Harris as I cant see you being at Cardiff very long.
