Simon Hooper, last nights ref

Sat Feb 01, 2020 12:33 pm

Have seen this fella Referee our games a few times and he’s been awful every time! Last night he was again clueless. Makes you think how people like him get to officiate in the professional game, let alone as high as the Championship? Keith Stroud is another one who is always abysmal.

The worst was Jazz fouling their winger. He blows up for foul and as he did, the winger did the same back in jazz. Result was he seemed to reverse his original decision.
I think the rule / law is good but it’s unfortunately not in football yet.

He totally lost the plot there. I was sat right by there and it was a great tackle by Jazz, didn’t touch the man, just the ball. When he then gave the freekick to us I couldn’t believe it. Don’t think the players knew what was happening either?

And this clown has just been elevated to the premier league :banghead:

Just because Jazz got the ball without touching the player does not mean it’s not a follow as rules stand But what followed was bizarre
Other points Patterson was mugged in the box with the defender lying on top of him right in front of the ref and how reading were not down to 10 men just before half time again was a poor decision . It’s been a long time since we have had such a poor ref

I was talking about what followed rather than whether the tackle was legal or not mate.

Impossible job mate trying to control 20 cheating brats on a park. Fans around me were calling him a c**t when the decision was correct but against us.

This is the same clown who didn't give us the most obvious penalty I've ever seen home to Watford last season. He apologised to Warnock after the game admitting he got it wrong, but it was one of several incredible decisions that got us relegated last season. It was a Friday evening game and out of all the refs, the football league decided to give us this clown! I totally agree with the comment above that it should have been a sending off just before half time too.

As soon has I seen he was the ref I thought we wouldn't get anything off him 100% penalty on ward

Referee ... Description in dictionary...sad loser with no friends and no talent for the game they are officiating.

Just watching MOTD and he was in charge of VAR for Liverpool v Southampton, and decided 2 on IOUs penalties were not penalties. Absolutely bloody useless.

I agree , hope we never get him again!

No need for Morrison to go down in first galf , think Paterson taken out in 2nd half ?
Last season , a clear penalty against Watford and missed at least 1 in Liverpool game today!

I'm bumping my post and this thread, as this clown needs to be investigated. That's another 2 points he's cost us today and questions must be asked! Simon Hooper robs us every time he referees us, but he's an absolutely shocking referee who gets so many decisions wrong in other games as well. How this clown has made it to the Premiership is beyond me!

The only referee I have seen as bad as Simon Hooper over the years is Barry Knight (anyone remember him?) No team anywhere near this level should have to suffer Simon Hooper. Questions really need to be asked how he's made it to the Premiership and allowed to continually referee our games.

Neil Harris is furious and rightfully so! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... d-17839336

OK, so can I refer back to City v QPR 2017, Aug or Sept. He disallowed 2 PERFECTLY GOOD GOALS by Zohore and Hoillet. Unbeleivable decisions at the time that, right now, speak volumes about his iconsistency when it comes to reffin' certain clubs. When you throw the appalling Watford penalty appeal last year, and now today, when he was about to blow for a pen... Then decides no to...... You can write your own report about the guy.

Keith Stroud is so overdue a City game.

Still baffled by his decision to disallow Bamba’s goal at Millwall 2 seasons ago
