Lets be honest

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=144783

Yes we signed three players but the ones we lost are better than we gained.

We lost our main right back with over four hundred appearances in his career at this level and replaced him with a twenty year old kid who has never played a professional game.

We signed a left back who has only ever played seventeen games in seven years in British football. Seven of those games in league one.

We signed a 33 year old winger who cant get on the bench for Forest and has his best years behind him.

We needed a midfielder and striker badly but got neither, it has been a poor window for us especially given the transfers other clubs have made.

We had a real chance of the playoffs but our squad looks weaker now than it did last week

I tend to agree with you but you will undoubtedly get a lot of stick from the happy clappers on the messageboard who will insist that somehow it's been a great window and that we still have a realistic chance of promotion.

I think the club will consider it an extremely successful window in that the cost cutting which seems to be the main objective of the club currently has been achieved.

You do surprise me.

OK, so you say we bought a 32 year old winger and you're not happy with that.

But then you're not happy that we let a right back go who is 34 this year?

I'm happy enough with our signings.

I'm sure the manager would have liked a striker as well, but at least he didn't throw money without bringing in quality - something that Malky, Solskjaer and Warnock were all guilty of.

He'll be able to get his main targets in the summer.

Re: Very poor window

Could been poorer and not signed anyone? But not sure what people were expecting as the whole team is a mess and missing vital players in key positions which cannot be rectified in this window? Wonder what fans of teams who brought no one in are thinking tonight? :o

I hope you're right about the summer. Will he have the funds available though to undertake what really needs to be quite a large overhaul of the playing staff?

Thats well said. If they don't work out, then they are not with us for 3-4 years like solksjaers merry men. Peltier was a great servant for us, i wish him well

Well upto now we've had plenty of money to spend just shame it's been wasted ! But hopefully will see adequate money available to turn squad around but need around 6 players to do it though.

Wont dissagree and hopefully NH will gett the players we desperately need and not to many journeyman that we have had previously! May need couple but mid 20s would be good .

I don’t know why people are surprised.

Russel Slade 2.0 is our manager we will just muddle along now for a few seasons.

The yes man will just do as he’s told and smile. He’s got a biggish club on cv a decent pay packet won’t relegate us his contract will run out an we won’t of made the play offs once and somebody decent might get a chance.

Why is he a yes man? It's a stupid description of anyone who is employed by someone else.. your a yes man if your boss tells you to do something ( presuming you do have one) does NH play players that tan tells him to play? Its Just a bad description of a manager :old:

No it’s not a stupid discription.
A football manager should be in charge of every footballing decision at a football club because he is the one with the expertise.

Do you think for instance Russel Slade went to the board and said he wanted to buy Lex Immers and Kenneth Zohore. Or do you think somebody told our board about them and they went and signed them an said here’s two new players for you.

Because I’ve got a feeling a guy like Russel Slade who’s just been sacked by Hereford United hasn’t got one single contact in Europe.

An you know for a fact that Neil Warnock would of told them to f**k right off if they tried doing that to him.

So you are saying a manager should be in charge of every footballing decision? ? Well they (board and owner)allowed neil Warnock to have who he wanted then? If so,it shows he f@cked up on a fair few then? They trusted his"experience" and he blew millions, and before I'm called a hater,I never ever have stooped to that level,of any manager we have had (and I've seen a fair old few!) But the last manager who had that luxury of choosing ALL his own players imho.but posters have the right to air their views, and these are mine.I will wait to judge Neil Harris after the summer, and if as it seems likely we are in this division, after 15 games, I will see who he has added/removed from the squad, and then maybe judge on wether he is doing well,or the football is better on the eye,and I know it's a results game, and we fans want success instantly, we do seem to be getting a lot more possession lately (bar west brom ) I would imagine the fact that since Harris took over in November,no team in the championship has lost fewer game (2,although I'm sure on another thread someone has it as 3 losses in 16 & 4 in 17!! Must have missed those defeats! ) if we can supply whoever is leading the line with more chances, the law of averages says we should score a few more? :old: :bluebird:

same as the last 4/5 years. nowhere near enough..
we got lucky 2 years ago but there tend to be 3 or 4 clubs giving it a real go in this division and its difficult to see us being on of them..

I don't know about that mate.. despite dragging us up from being utter shite to 62 points they gave NW 4mill the following summer, not exactly backing him in terms of giving it a real go...we got lucky.. the knock on effect was we didn't have anywhere like enough quality going up.. which is why we were red hot favourites to come straight back down..

We needed a midfielder and a striker badly. Plenty went to other clubs in our division on loan that could have helped us.
Yes Peltier was 34 but he only had 6 months left and was very dependable and experianced. We have taken a 20 year old to replace him who has not played a single minute of football ? How are you happy with that gamble ? We may aswell have played Cameron Coxe than give another teams kids experiance.

On the other side the Smith signing looks a it better as he wont be playing anyway and is just backup incase Bennett is injured.

Adomah ? Why we need another winger baffles me. We have 4 who are all arguably better players. A quick read through the forest forum says everything. Mainly stating hes a lovely guy but his legs have gone and it's good buisness for them to get rid.

Like I said everyman and his dog knew we needed a midfielder and striker . Doesnt matter the quality I'm not saying we had to spend millions, but we needed them. We have neither and that makes it a poor window in my opinion.

I obviously meant I wasnt expecting big money or premier league players to signed. We literally have nothing up front other than a converted right back.
There were a few that we could have got up front and midfield.
Connor wickham went to Sheff Wed Brewster went to Swansea
Cavaleiro went to Fulham
Scott Sinclair went to Preston
Andy king went to Huddersfield
Nahki Wells went to Bristol

Just a few off the top of my head.
The window was poor and we are weaker now than we were at the start if it

You've decided he's a yes man you don't know he's a yes man though do you?

You've just decided it based on nothing really more than his appointment, which again you weren't party to, you weren't at his interview or presentation of his plans for the club.

Re: Very poor window

Yet again we are writing off players without actually watching them play or maybe even not heard of them. We need to give the club this season as the way I see it this window was about getting rid of the rubbish and preparing for next season.

Why spend money when City wont go up or down :bluebird:

Rubbish we are weaker. We have a winger that can hopefully actually cross a ball, as Hoilett and Whyte are pointless.. And we have a young eager, right back and also Bennett will have to pull his finger out now, as he has competition. Have a day off

Really ?
We lost Madine , Reid , Bogle from our front line and signed nobody
We lost Peltier and Brown from our defence and bought in 2 full backs who probably wont play . One of those has never played a professional game the other only 17 bit appearances in 7 years. 7 of those in league 1.

We also signed a 33 year old winger who's best days are gone.
Why anybody would be happy with the signings baffle me. They are appeasement signings to make sure the fans dont kick off. Only Adomah will actually get game time and that's only until Mendez is fit.

And all those players we lost don't play either. So weaker we are not, however, I don't feel we are any stronger.
