Done Deal | City sign Dion Sanderson on loan
Club News 15 minutes ago
Cardiff City is pleased to announce the signing of Dion Sanderson from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old joins on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Sanderson made his senior debut for Wolves’ first team in a Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa in October 2019.

A defender who can play at either centre-half or right-back, Dion joined Wolves’ youth setup aged eight, and played a crucial role in their Premier League 2 Division 2-winning 2018/19 campaign.

You can welcome Dion to the Welsh capital on his official Twitter page.

"I wanted to bring in some youthfulness and some energy and we’ve managed to do that with Dion," said City boss Neil Harris after agreeing the deal.

"I’ve said that we need cover in the full-back area, and Dion gives us that.

"He wants to work and train hard, and I’m looking forward to working with him."

Neil. Youthfulness, Adomah is 32.

Personally think this is a great approach to see what difference he can make at 20 years old

Wolves are doing well and play tidy football and wouldn't expect to see him in there line up

I have no problem with who we have released but all three of these loan signings are pointless and mediocre and we haven't got a striker. I am glad we haven't wasted any permanent money though. This summer we have to buy quality and better than this lot.

How many times have you seen Sanderson and Smith play mate? Just wondering.

You know what the young kid could be good or not, and Adomah could still have it or not I’ve got a bad feeling it’s not going to really matter. This is probably as high as we’ll be in the league one way or the other. Might get a good cup run though

Agree with you there I think we have reached our limit and need to prepare for next season

Household names both of them? I am sure they are both decent championship players but we're not making an attempt on the play offs this year with those two or Adomah are we? We need a striker and we haven't got one. Lets hope when we build again this summer we identify and finally buy one for next season.

I’m hoping that it’s a case of clearing some of the decks now and if Harris proves he can get us to say, 10th - 8th he’ll be given some cash for players. I’ve no idea how much but I’m happy with the idea of younger and hopefully hungrier players with a bit to prove. I know Adomah isn’t in that category but without NML our 3 wingers are pi$$ poor imho.

I agree re striker mate but sometimes the household names can be an expensive let down - particularly on loan.

Have to say you are right imo,he can at least cross the ball, may not be a spring chicken, but as you point out, without nml,the other three have hardly been ripping teams to shreds have they, perhaps an older head can teach Murphy not to sulk so much, and get his arse, and more importantly his he's in gear, cos he looks nowhere near worth £11m,more like 2/3!! Harris has a huge task on his hands to get any sort of praise from certain posters, but he has to clear the decks even further in the summer imho. :old: :bluebird:

Why do people keep fu..ing saying we need a striker
Just check how many goals weve scored this season then check it against the top of the table teams
Now check how many goals weve conceded then compare with bottom of league clubs
Then you can see our problem
Its not scoring our problem is conceding
I say it every season clean sheets get you promoted
Work it out yourself
How many goals do you need to win if you keep a clean sheet its one
How many goals do you need to win if concede one its two
If you concede two.its three and so on

Agree mate. As we discussed earlier, Pack is the weak link imo.

it works both ways... if you score the other team need 2
score 2..they need 3.. etc
but its not clean sheets that get you promoted or keep you up or how many you score, its a combination of both..
if clean sheets were the b all and end all WBA wouldn't be anywhere near the top. and we wouldnt have gone down last season.
