" TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY TOPIC "

Thu Jan 30, 2020 11:00 pm

The January transfer window slams shut on Friday 31st January 2020 at 11pm.

Clubs from the Premier League and EFL will not be able to bring any players in after this point - including loans.

If all paperwork is submitted by 11pm, the FA will give clubs time to complete the deal.

Cardiff City are believed to be looking for a striker, with a number of names linked.

Elsewhere the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are all expected to further strengthen their squads.

Brownhill will do well at Burnley I think. Deserves his chance at that level.

Wells will score goals, but losing Brownhill will probably hit them hard unless they've got a replacement.

Dyche is usually a good picker of players he likes to enhance his team... we are badly in need of transformation in way we play to be able to get players like wells! We are stuck and limited to type players can get in this window.

looking at who we bid for and who we are linked with the price tag has far more to do with who we sign far more than how we play. just as it did last summer.
besides , I doubt how we play is not going to change a great deal between now and the summer window so if its a put off now it will remain a put off then.

Doesn't matter how cheap a player is if he doesn't fit in with our style play be waste of time and money now! January window is generally used to sign players to try get out relegation or trying to get promoted are we doing either? ... so cheap short term deals best which may give us a chance of playoffs
if right players come in..this allows NH to start a clear out in summer I feel need to lose 5/6 players and bring in players to change the long ball game. But time will tell if NH goes that way..

I agree. Needs to start from the back to do that as well. New RB, new CB who is comfortable on the ball, a creative CM, a decent winger and a striker. Adding creativity and pace should be a priority as well! Easy

A winger and a striker would be a good short term fix. Need to start thinking more long term in the summer though.

Stoke City 'fend off' Cardiff interest in Lee Gregory

Stoke City have fended off a deadline day swoop from Cardiff City for striker Lee Gregory, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

The Bluebirds are in the hunt for an attacking player, with Albert Adomah linked with a move to the Welsh capital today.

However, the Stoke outlet say that Neil Harris has sounded out the Championship club over reuniting with his former Millwall frontman Gregory.

It is said Cardiff were willing to take Gregory on loan, but Stoke were only willing to listen to offers which involved a permanent deal.

Those advances, it is claimed, have been rebuffed.

Gregory is now set to be named in the Potters squad to face Derby County tonight.

Albert Adomah deal moves closer

It appears Cardiff City's deadline day swoop for Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah is reaching crunch point.

ADVERTISING

Ads by Teads
Yesterday we learned that City indeed held and interest in recruiting the 32-year-old Ghana international, but things have certainly accelerated on deadline day.

We understand that Nottingham Forest have indeed confirmed that Adomah is likely to leave before tonight's 11pm deadline, but would not divulge to which club he would be moving.

We believe there is a strong chance that club is Cardiff City and numerous sources, including The Sun, have claimed that Adomah is indeed on his way south from Nottingham.

Adomah moved to the City Ground only last summer, but it looks like his time could well be up there, with a loan move to Cardiff until the end of the season the deal said to be on the table.
