Cant believe I am going to miss out again. Went there nearly fifty years ago on the train and the game was called off so about a 100 of us went to Spurs. Any old codgers on this site remember that? Haven't been back since. Done 6

I travelled there that day. My dad drove me and my 2 brothers there. He asked if we could go in and see the ground (we were easily pleased in those days). They refused. Shi**y little club that I have never liked since. Remember their plastic pitch and also their membership scheme which banned away fans. They forfeited a league cup tie against us rather than allow away fans. There was also the time they burned a Welsh flag

The highlight of that day was seeing Eric Morecome & Malcom Macdonald (see easily pleased reference above)

I lived in Luton then and used to go to watch them. I was a member and was all set to get 3 of my mates from home into that League cup tie (members were allowed to buy 4 tickets) but then they called it off!

You still have to basically walk through people's back gardens to get in to the away end!

That's right, Eric Morecome was chairman I think Malcom McDonald was making a name for himself then. Game was called off for snow I seem to remember. We went to see Spurs v Everton instead. Train to St.Pancras and then all piled on a bus to White Hart Lane. Bus conductor- remember them!- didn't have a clue what hit him. Got there late and joined up with the surprisingly small Everton contingent. BR let us use our football special tickets to get back from Paddington. Great days!!
