If they want a decent crowd, why not make it free for season ticket holders?

I'm sure I've read before that they're not allowed to by the organisers of the competition. In this case, The FA.
Apparently it's because it would be very unfair on the away team, because normally they would get a high share of the revenues from ticket sales.
I think they have to charge Reading fans whatever they charge Cardiff fans as well, so everybody would be going for free.

There'll be about 4,000 there, I won't be going myself, 3 home games in a week, sod that. A quid for season ticket holders, and give out tickets for free in local Schools to kids, with the condition that a parent has to go with them, who will have to pay 2/3 pound. Also, have a pay on the gate turnstile for 2/3 quid.

I am with you I'm afraid, we are playing them on Friday and again on Tuesday, I can't see many Reading fans making the trip twice in 5 days and they have never travelled here in great numbers, even on weekends, so we can forget a large away following to boost the crowd.
So if you think we had 5,200 against Carlisle with 600 from up North, will Reading bring 600? Doubt it, will more than turned up on a Saturday in the last round turn up on a midweek night to see us play the same team we played 4 days earlier? I doubt that either.
4-5,000 mark sounds about right to me. £15 on the night doesn't help mind, not sure why they feel the need to up the price by that much on the night, if they had stuck with £10 on the night as well they might have had a better walk up.

Well if thats the case the club could subsidise season ticket holders in other ways. Maybe give a bonus to their cash card etc.
As always season ticket holders get nothing extra at all!

I agree. Stick it at £10, turn up on the night and sit where you like and you may get a few more walk ups than normal.

Agree.
Club are clueless when it comes to attracting support for these type of games.
Ive got a season ticket so its a no from me on this one as club don't do anything to encourage season ticket holders either.

I agree about the price for the FA cup game ..it should be the same for walk up as pre booked.
not sure what people mean by not doing anything for season ticket holders though , personally I think our season tickets are cheap. isn't that enough ?
