About Reading

Reading Football Club is a professional association football club based in Reading, Berkshire, England. The team play in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The current manager is Mark Bowen.

Reading are nicknamed The Royals, due to Reading's location in the Royal County of Berkshire, though they were previously known as The Biscuitmen, due to the town's association with Huntley and Palmers. Established in 1871, the club is one of the oldest teams in England, but did not join The Football League until 1920, and first in the top tier of English football league system in the 2006–07 season. The club competed in the 2012–13 Premier League season, having gained promotion at the end of the 2011–12 season after winning the Championship, but were relegated after just one season back in the top flight.

The club played at Elm Park for 102 years between 1896 and 1998. In 1998 the club moved to the new Madejski Stadium, which is named after the club's former co-chairman Sir John Madejski.

The club holds the record for the number of successive league wins at the start of a season, with a total of 13 wins at the start of the 1985–86 Third Division campaign and also the record for the number of points gained in the professional league season with 106 points in the 2005–06 Football League Championship campaign. Reading then finished eighth in the 2006–07 Premier League, their first ever season as a top flight club.

During the 2014–15 FA Cup, the club reached the semi finals, reaching the quarter finals the season after. They also reached the championship playoff final in the 2016–17 EFL Championship season.

The manager should remind the players before the game that this is the club who falsely accused our fans of being homophobic racists.

An hopefully we get out there and play like we did last night. Hopefully NH is not stupid enough to start rotating the defence or we won’t win.

Let's hope last nite was the start of a decent run
I think Jazz should be dropped, shocking v Qpr and gave a penalty away last nite.
Still going to say a draw 1-1.

Gone for a home win. Confidence should be high after beating the league leaders, but it is a strange league with a lot of unexpected results so nothing will surprise me. Going for 3-0.

We couldn’t beat Reading’s reserves why are we surprised that we are losing to their first team?

Harris is a terrible manager don’t let a magic lee Tomlin free kick fool you!

Look at what Millwall are doing since his departure!

Call me negative all you want but these are genuine observations.

Confidence SHOULD have been high when we beat sheff wed away but we then received one of our worst defeats in years at QPR.

Reading are awful and with a centre forward we would be comfortably winning. Patterson off and Glatzel on I think.

Doesnt say much for them as we lead in all the stats..... one upfront does not work as cannot hold ball up to allow midfield to support and hoillett is useless again..... :old:

Really? One poor bit of defending otherwise we've been the better team throughout. Need more guile and a centre forward who can read Tomlin. Patterson is poor tonight. Glatzel reads the Tomlin better.
