" Jürgen Klopp "

Mon Jan 27, 2020 10:14 pm

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has said that none of his senior players will be involved in the replay against Shrewsbury Town, and he won't be there either. His reserve team manager will take charge for the match.

He says this is due to the fact that the replay falls into the week where they are having a winter break. The Premier League told clubs not to have their first team players playing at all during the winter break.

Personally I understand him not wanting to play his senior players, but think it's very disrespectful and wrong to not attend himself.

If they cant provide a first team for a first team fixture they should not enter the competition. Simple.
If he does not turn up or play any 1st team players they should be banned from the competition

If they’d drawn Man Ure he’d have to have selected a strong side, the fans would have demanded that.

He's being pedantic as premier league have said no club is to arrange games in their allocated break? So he's taking it literally and said all 1st team players are going away for a team break including him! The stupid part is everyone knew when breaks was for each team also knew fa cup dates but fa rules stipulate that clubs cannot field a team such as liverpool are proposing but they also knew high probability of replays impacting on break so what are liverpool suppose to do? To add to problem because of way things have worked out one team as to play Sunday after break a d then on Wednesday in Europe! So they're not
happy, Only answer it appears is no replays and that would mean no problems in future hopefully.. :o

Goes back to the age old question "First Team or First Team Squad?"

If the latter, then Klopp is fully entitled to play who he wants in any order, including eligible U-23's

Trouble is most probably wont be 1st team match squad and as such contravene fa rules on playing weakened team? Be interesting to see what happens now clopp as said these things.

Jurgen Stropp deflecting the fact that they blew a two goal lead against Shrewsbury town with this nonsense.

What with pep wanting the league cup abolished, now Klopp showing disrespect to the F A cup,no wonder most crowds are relatively low around these rounds,I hope it comes back to bite them on the arse, and I will most definitely cheering for Shrewsbury to do it! :old: :bluebird:

personally I think he is a total dick but the FA want the penny and the bun here as well. its either a break or it isn't ?

If they hadn't drawn and the FA had allowed it, Liverpool would have been quite happy to use the break to take their team half way round the world for some meaningless friendly in Asia if the money was right.

Since the champions league started the fa cup has nose dived, at one time the fa cup pulled in bigger crowds than the league games, its going the same way as the home internationals when england did' nt want to carry on with them, preferring to play foriegn opposition countries, understandable but a pity, match of the day
have started talking about getting shot of the league cup this weekend.

that's the point Klopp is making mate , the FA have asked clubs not to do that and honour the break , the clubs have honoured it. its the FA that now want them to play games.

He is going to do whatever he feels is best for the club. I would think that his priority is winning the league and to do well in Europe, with this cup being 3rd on his list. Plenty of sides have paid less attention to the FA Cup than we would like, including ourselves. He probably feels that whatever side is selected should have a reasonable chance of reaching the next round, but I doubt if he will be too bothered if this replay results in a shock defeat for his team.

Don't blame him they have too many games, they've won the League, got to be in with a good shout for the Champions League, I would do the same 100%.

If the World and European Champions can not find 11 first team players to play a home game against Shrewsbury then there’s something wrong isn’t there.

Spot On ;) And the FA did not care when they made Liverpool play a youth team v Villa in that other cup ....
While Liverpool went on to win the Super Cup that week .
