Meite Reading goal scorer

Sat Jan 25, 2020 7:17 pm

Poor from the ref to book him today after his dad died in the week. Sometimes the rule hook should be disregarded.

He was offside but should not have been booked.

Yes he was offside but he was booked for taking his shirt off he could of just lifted his shirt up, rules state any player removing their shirt will receive a yellow,no excuses no slack.

Can anyone give me a valid reason why its a bookable offence?

The rules say you can’t remove your shirt no matter what. You can’t have a situation the ref has to decide if it’s justified or not. That isn’t sustainable. Is it ok if one does it because he lost a family member or would it still be ok if his dog died. The rules are the rules. As someone said he could of just lifted his shirt and none of this would of happened.
Now I’m more concerned about the blind linesman and the referee yesterday that were shit awful.

I have no idea why removing your shirt is a bookable offence. If he took it off and threw it in the crowd or if there was a controversial/political message on the shirt under it then obviously it's a different matter but as long as a player puts the shirt back on before play is resumed I don't see any issue IMO. I think it happened not long ago with Almiron from Newcastle - he'd scored his first goal for the club after a difficult start and I think it was the winning goal and it was obviously a special moment for him and he got booked for removing his shirt

Not sure why anyone feels the need to remove their shirt after scoring. Never used to happen, and there's plenty of other ways to celebrate.

I agree but I don't understand why its a bookable offence.

It's a bookable offence and you can't make exceptions.

Although I remember Sol Bamba somehow getting away with it last season

Pretty sure the Leicester scorer was booked after scoring at our place after the helecopter crash.

Yes he was unfortunately. I dont see anything wrong with it and should never be a yellow card
