I find this really uncomfortable when that song is sung. I’ve never heard us make racist chants. But a large section of our fans seem to think it is acceptable to sing a song about child sexual abuse and incest. It isn’t funny.
Before we claim the moral high ground over no racist or homophobic chanting, this song needs to be eradicated from our repertoire too.
And if that makes me a snowflake, bring on winter.

I just reported a Reading fan doing aeroplane / swimming actions to a steward. Fair play about 3 mins later he was having his collar felt and being escorted out.
No racist or homophobic chanting whatsoever
Loads were doing the swim away. Reporting fans to the police or stewards is wrong. Getting pissed of with city fans reporting other fans ffs
Your opinion mate. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Why would you think it’s wrong to report anyone making those sick gestures?
The swim away they wee doing that in reference to the jacks. If other fans want to be pricks let em. Reporting them is a no no
The swim away in reference to the Jacks is no problem- banter.
What I saw was definitely aeroplane gestures along with swimming. A sick scummy thing to do that’s my eyes has no place in football today.
The same thing happened in Southampton. Our whole end cheered when the culprits were led away. N I thinking you would have cheered but just not wanted to be the one that stopped them maybe getting away with it?

If they get caught fair enough I’m on about grassing them up. Where does it then stop ? You could of had Reading fans reporting to the police that guy over there in yellow shouted always shit on the English side of the bridge. Or those that contacted Sheffield UTD or the FA over Mcburnie. Sorry are we now in a society that we are all snitches or grasses.
f**k sakes sticks and stones and all that. We have all turned into ohh let’s be offended all the time. My god it’s football and yes I’m old fashioned that I reckon let a man let off steam. They work all week and with the stresses of life football used to be an outlet. Don’t expect anyone to agree with that but please stop the snitching.

People can call our fans lots of things but we definitely aren’t racist.
I dont think any clubs fans in the English leagues can be regarded as racist as a whole. Every club has dickheads in the stands and we are no different.
Whilst we are certainly not known for having racial tendencies as a set of fans it wouldnt suprise me if someone had a bit to much too drink and said something stupid.
Hopefully it was a misheard chant but if it was a racial slur then they should be banned for a long time.
If it's about the anti-english / anti-welsh songs then there are a lot of banning orders on the way to a lot of fans because it happens with thousands of people every weekend
If one of our own fans had come out with a racial slur I have no doubt those near him would make him instantly regret it

Well in all honesty,if it was a racist slur I would hope that would be the case,as the team he supports (if true at all mind!) Is full of players from different ethnic backgrounds.so would be strange,if not downright stupid?

How do you know that’s what it’s for?
They have been arrested for “racially aggravated abuse”, that doesn’t tie in with what you are suggesting.
I think you should take a step back from defending them anymore until the facts come out. As it stands there has clearly been reasonable grounds for arrest.

I agree. Our instincts are that, we as a club are being wronged here, but no one at this stage knows what was said. And no one can say that in a crowd of 3000 they heard everything that was said by everyone. There are some pretty unpleasant teenagers in the ranks who think they are chocolate, as most teenagers do, and if they shouted anything they shouldn't very few of 3000 would have heard it. Let's hope not.
