I dont think any clubs fans in the English leagues can be regarded as racist as a whole. Every club has dickheads in the stands and we are no different.
Whilst we are certainly not known for having racial tendencies as a set of fans it wouldnt suprise me if someone had a bit to much too drink and said something stupid.

Hopefully it was a misheard chant but if it was a racial slur then they should be banned for a long time.

If it's about the anti-english / anti-welsh songs then there are a lot of banning orders on the way to a lot of fans because it happens with thousands of people every weekend

racist and homophobic chanting and an announcement to stop iy immediately .... suggests something different to a drunk dickhead surely ?

She says it's not about anti English chants? But reading announced it was chanting by our fans? But nobody in ground or on tv radio heared it? So Was our fans using sign language? :o

The quote says it was a racial incident. It doesnt say it was the whole stand. They put out a generic announcement which uses a term that is used in most of the advertising against those issues which was probably the wrong thing to do as it shows us in a bad light.
Racial or homophobic chanting will not be tolerated doesnt mean it was both it could have been one. Readings announcement also states that "A STEWARD" made the complaint twice. So is it just a person miss hearing a chant or is it possible it's someone with something against the club ?
Could also be that we did have someone that said something racist or homophobic. The truth will come out but if they have no proof then the steward should have action taken against him and Cardiff fans should have a full public apology from reading

Chanting implies several if not hundreds of fans? But not one city fan heared anything other than normal anti English swans chants! And obviously no reading fans did as it's been roundly reported that 2 stewards reported incidents not reading fans.

Reading supporters club say it was a single steward.
I would say that nobody really knows but it looks like a overzealous steward mishearing something

That would depend on how far away the person was from the steward. The fans are not deafening if your in the stand you can here people 20odd seats away pretty clearly.
I think people need to wait until the full facts are out.
I dont really believe anything was said I believe it was a miss heard chant by a single person but it could just as easily be true.
Need to see what the accusation actually was.
If its deemed not true then City fans should have a full public apology to clear the names as we've never really been known for this type of thing

They have, embarrassing for them. You have to wonder about the power these stewards now have, stopping games now because they heard something that wasn’t even what they thought. RIP football

Post from the father of one of the lads arrested on Vinves Facebook page. The fan was released at 1am and it was over chanting ‘England’s a shithole I want to go home’. If that comes out as the real reason Reading need to investigate the ‘speak f*cking English chant aimed at us.

Is this statement on sky exactly what Harris said, I have not seen what sky quoted in the brackets!

"We as a football club work extremely hard behind the scenes (to combat racist and homophobic behaviour)," Harris said.

"For me, it's not about Cardiff City today or Reading or whoever. It's about society and football in general.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. We have to make sure that, as a society in a football industry, everything is correct."

Re: Updated: ‘ Racist chanting at Reading ‘

Sun Jan 26, 2020 9:56 am

Harris has lost my support for that statement and I didn’t think much of him before.

Re: Updated: ‘ Racist chanting at Reading ‘

Sun Jan 26, 2020 10:06 am

I think he needs to quickly & publicly deny this is NOT what he meant. (unless of course he meant it). The club also needs to make a comment on this too. The way SKY have written this on their site suggests he meant exactly that. Whatever the out come of this sorry episode, we will be tarnished yet again. If it's totally over-reaction, we have no chance of an apology either. Even our local press, BBC & WOL would love to do us a dis-service. What chance the national press?

What I saw was definitely aeroplane gestures along with swimming. A sick scummy thing to do that’s my eyes has no place in football today.
The same thing happened in Southampton. Our whole end cheered when the culprits were led away. N I thinking you would have cheered but just not wanted to be the one that stopped them maybe getting away with it?

In fairness he’s normally defending the millwall crowd who do have a bad reputation for racist behaviour particularly from the section where their lads congregate.

As soon as it came up on sky I knew it was bollocks, been watching Cardiff for 20 years and can count on one hand the amount of racist incidents. The game is dead when some muggy steward has the power to stop a top flight game of football because he’s upset with something he heard .

There is an odd MSM campaign to make us believe football has some sort of racist illness . 99.9% of fans are not racist and will police their own . Cardiff has never had a problem . Always found it amusing when the opponent keeper was greeted with the rent boy chant mind.

From anti black to anti Jack, Reading have dropped a bollock but rather than hold their hand up, admit it and apologise they are scrambling around looking for something to take offense to. Sounds like they are now taking offense on behalf of the Jacks. Pathetic.
