Updated:

Bobby Reid has made his move to Fulham from Cardiff City permanent. Bluebirds paid around £8.5m and sold for around £10m, so stand to make a £1.5m profit.

Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Fulham have completed the permanent transfer of Bobby Decordova-Reid for an undisclosed fee.

We’d like to thank Bobby for the time he spent at Cardiff City Stadium and wish him well for the future.

Well that's come early,I thought it was end of season?? Could this mean we accepted a lesser offer? Really hope not,as he engineered his move, so they should pay the agreed fee,but this is cardiff, and anything is possible, let's us hope we can use the bulk of it on improving this average squad. :old: :bluebird:

Slightly strange that it's happened now.

I think I read somewhere (maybe on here) that Fulham would have to buy him if he played a certain amount of games for them (which he has) and that they wouldn't get relegated this season (which they won't).

But why would they hand over £10m now when they don't have to rather than waiting until the end of the season?

I can't see why Fulham would do this unless they were paying a bit less for early settlement or unless an extra payment was due if they got promoted this season?

Nice for us to get the money in early but can't see why they would pay it early?

Any thoughts?

This sums us up, by a player, hardly play him sell him - the only plus point is we make a few quid. It’s still money wasted after a promotion and could and should have been spent elsewhere. At least it’s not the madine situation where we waste £6m and then let him go!

It amazes me in the open world we are in how undisclosed fees are allowed.

Can't help but fear we've settled on something to get the money in now. And id be flabbergasted if it's £10 million and showing a £1.5 million profit.

Who said they have paid anything early ?
It just says they have completed a permanent transfer , it doesnt mean the money will be paid in full now it's probably still due end of season. They have just made it permanent from today. Nothing really has changed because he was going anyway.
It does however mean Fulham can now loan a extra player as they had 5 already, I expect to see Fulham announce a loan signing soon.

I think it's more of a point that Fulham are freeing up a space for a loan signing by making the Reid signing permanent but still paying end of season.

Always felt he didn’t get a fair rub of the green under NW...never seemed trusted by the manager having done so well at the wurzels

So they're having him for free for five months?

You may be right and if you are then we are currently no better off than if the transfer completed at the end of the season.

Fulham on the other hand are getting a player they have not had to pay for as yet and can also loan another player now that they've "bought" Reid.

Still seems weird to me.

If they had paid a loan fee and were paying all wages it makes no difference to us either way surely ?
All that has happened is a loan deal has finished and a permanent deal has taken place. Transfer of funds were not going to happen until the summer anyway so we lose nothing. Like I said it now allows them to sign a extra loan player so makes sense for them to do this deal and makes very little difference to us

Were we meant to get more money if they were promoted? I am sure I read that on here at some point. Wouldnt surprise me if the club said pay us £10mill now and forget the bonus if youre promoted. I Could be wrong though and I have just made that up haha

Heard from good source that we have agreed a reduced one off payment deal rather than agreement to pay in installments later on. Free of around 5-6million. We have definitely made a loss

Imagine having to buy a player for less than you've agreed to free up a loan spot so you can sign another.............

The more you think about it , Fulham look like they have played a blinder here. Whatever way you look at it this is great for them. For us it's either the same as before or we lose money.
They are win win really

And we're probably doing the opposite - selling a player for less than we've agreed and buying or loaning nobody.

Does this mean he can now play against us later in the season? The loan conditions meant he couldn’t, hopefully we stipulated this was still the case with him signing permanent.

Perhaps Fulham have signed him early to save themselves a loan fee. They would have to paid the full fee at the end of the season, can't see City selling on the cheap.

Can't see how it frees up a wage as I'd hope Fulham already paying all of Reids. Fee already scheduled to come in and id imagine the Sala emergency payment fund. Doubt it'll make any difference to what NH has to not do much with

  so he has gone there on loan but with an agreement to sign.. was actually said for a small profit... has done really well there which has halved his value..?
the question is how much sauce had the source had..
