The Wales international has reportedly attracted interest from Bristol City, Stoke City and Sunderland recently, following a lack of game time with the Bluebirds .
However, City value Vaulks too highly to allow him to leave this month, with sources at the club stating that he is vital to the squad moving forward.
The central midfielder recently vented his frustrations on his time under former City boss Neil Warnock, explaining that he expected to have a bigger part to play having moved from Rotherham in the summer.
He even considered leaving the Welsh capital on loan this month in search of more regular game-time, but has since been brought back into the fray under Harris.
The 26-year-old has featured in both FA Cup ties against Carlisle, and will likely play this weekend against Reading in the same competition, and against QPR, Sheffield United and Leeds in the league.
While the player himself will admit that it hasn't quite worked out as he would have liked just yet, there is still a lot more to come from him and the club, it is understood, will afford him the time and opportunity to do just that.
