SCOTT JOHNSON:

“I think it’s fair to say that this season cannot be seen as a successful one for Cardiff City thus far. One manager has already departed and his successor has yet to win over largely sceptical supporters. The team are underachieving on a weekly basis and it feels like one step forward, at least one step back a lot of the time.
This season has definitely succeeded in raising more questions than providing answers though, that’s for sure. You find a solution to one problem and it seems to lead to a whole new set of concerns. An endless exercise in putting out fires. In lieu of this, here are four nagging questions of my own.”

To be honest I don't think the team is underachieving! I honestly think we have been overachieving for the past 2 seasons and that this season is showing us exactly the level we are at.

The squad is starting to age most now in their late 20s early 30s and not a lot coming through the academy.

Neil Harris needs at least 2 transfer windows to get rid of the dead wood and bring in his own players. Yes so far he hasn't set the hearts racing with the fans but non of the players are his.

It looks like we are trying to balance the books by getting rid of the big wages and fringe players and bringing in cheaper players from the lower championship and league one. I for one would not be surprised if we just signed one player in this window and got rid of 3 or 4.

I've written off this season and next season will be another mid table finish, for me it's going to take 2 or 3 seasons before we are capable of challenging for promotion again.

Not successful but considering what happened to the likes of Sunderland Stoke Huddersfield not a disaster either.
Of the 9 previous teams to be relegated only Newcastle got promoted and WBA made the playoffs in their 1st year in the championship.

I said on another thread that our manager's stats are not terrible at the minute, but that is based on the fact he has only a small number of games to be judged on. The stats would be a lot poorer if judged over double the amount of games, and I suppose he needs to be given time to see if his record improves or gets even worse. I don't think many City fans would have had him on their list of potential replacements for Warnock, but we may as well accept he will be here through the Summer transfer window and probably well into next season. Just hope he can turn things around, but I don't see him doing anything more than steadying the ship while further cost cutting takes place. Like others have said, probably here to do the same sort of job as Slade.

this might sound stupid, but i honestly believe Harris' only has one option, and thats finish as low as possible whilst staying in the league. I AM NOT SAYING THATS WHAT HE'S DOING (before people go crazy) but if say he finishes 8th, for example. unless we're competing for the play offs by christmas, he will be seen as failing. because it would mean we havent progressed or pushed on under him. i agree that this season is now a write off. but i am being honest, all personal feelings aside, i dont think we will progress under NH and will probably get the sack around next xmas. he plays the same football as NW. he did at Millwall. the only difference is, he has his full backs more attacking, which unless we get a midfield general next to bacuna, we will probably end up getting over run

If he gets sacked somewhere around Xmas then that is next season written off too.
