Cardiff City are reportedly still interested in bringing in Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore during the current transfer window despite recent reports to the contrary.

The BBC reported just under a week ago that the Bluebirds had dropped their interest in the big frontman after having an opening bid rejected by the Latics.

However, on Sunday night, The Mail Online reported that the South Wales outfit had not infact given up entirely on the 27-year-old, stating that Neil Harris and co were “still keen”.

However, on Sunday night, The Mail Online reported that the South Wales outfit had not infact given up entirely on the 27-year-old, stating that Neil Harris and co were “still keen”.
It has been a tricky campaign for Moore since making the move to the DW from Barnsley during the summer transfer window, finding the back of the net just twice in 18 appearances.
It is has been proven, however, that he is capable of scoring plenty of goals having racked up 17 in 31 League One appearances for The Tykes last season.

Harris is understandably keen to strengthen his striking options with summer recruit Robert Glatzel and Danny Ward only managing five apiece so far this season.

The Bluebirds currently sit in 13th place in what has been a frustrating campaign so far, with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Birmingham City leaving them six poins adrift of the play-off places.

The verdict

I think Moore could be a very good signing for Cardiff.

Ultimately, any striker would struggle in Wigan’s current side. They have not replaced the creativity lost in the summer via Nick Powell and that has hit Moore hard.

In Harris’ physical and more direct side, with creators like Lee Tomlin and Junior Hoilett delivering crosses for him, the former Barnsley man could soon start to thrive.

We'll sign him on 31st January for £6m and give him a five year contract.

Normally a comment like that would warrant a laughing emoji, however, this is Cardiff City and what you say has an uncomfortable ring of truth about it..

We need better players to support our strikers from midfield. We will still have the same problems of poor deliveries and lack of support with Moore up top, the same as with Madine and Glatzel. We need a decent box to box midfielder and a winger that might provide some sort of form.

Well if he helps take us up like the last striker we signed for 6 million did it will be money well spent.

Agreed and then we might see the best of Glatzel.

My concern on him is he’s had several decent headed chances and not put them away.

I’d still prefer him up front to Paterson and definitely Moore

If Harris really wants to change our style of play it needs to start from the back. Bennet has been much better the last few games getting down the wing, we need that at RB as well. Pelts is solid in defence but offers very little going forward. We havnt seen any sort of form from any of wingers this season so far and the centre of midfield lacks pace and (excluding Tomlin)cutting edge. Starting this transfer window I would be looking at a RB to replace pelts, a more mobile CM to replace Bacuna/Pack and a winger. Hoillet and murphy are too inconsistent, seems Whyte is still adjusting and NML is out for the season. No point spending millions on a striker (again) if we cant get the ball to him.

A lot of fans say its the service to the striker that will be the same problem as with madine and glatzel, unfortunatly we will not pay or sign top quality hence the poor service players we have" this will be a never ending cycle if we continue to buy poor quality due to a lack of funds, and a lack of any quality coming through the academy.

For me theres not enough quality service going to the strikers and we only offer anything going forward when tomlin plays sadly would love to see someone come in who can take a dead ball again thought tomlin be main one for corners etc etc pack is awful ralls is worse

It’s nothing to do with money.

We’ve had less money and better teams in the past.

We can’t recruit players because we have a transfer committee who know f**k all about football and no proper recruitment team or plan.

We have got about 20 centre backs 9 strikers who can’t score a goal 1 left back and about 2 centre midfielders. That shows we have no plan it’s deeper then any managers we have.

We are a club with no direction just winging it.

You have no proof of that.

Whereas I have the assist at Sheff Utd as evidence he did.

Just what we need, another average striker to join the long list of average stickers we swap week to week.
