Hereford FC can confirm that first-team manager Russell Slade has left the club.

The decision for Slade to leave, which comes into effect immediately, was made following lengthy discussions between Hereford FC Chairman Andrew Graham and Russell Slade earlier today.

One of the most bizarre appointments we’ve ever made.

Since Slade left Cardiff he had failed everywhere in the lower leagues.

He could not fail with us as he had a massive squad with abundance of talent so we were never getting relegated.

But if he had stayed another season, disaster would of happened.

I know a few Hereford fans and they reckon he took over a very poor squad. The previous manger made some dreadful signings. So they have been patient with him but the football has been awful and really boring too. Think as a manger he has probably passed his steel by date.

I know people are comparing Harris to slade, but whilst Harris might have been a cheaper option, he is no where near as bad as slade was. The football under slade was absolutely terrible and he was incapable of changing tactics in any sort of way. I know the football hasn’t been brilliant under Harris but at least he can see when to change team/tactics. He’s also inherited a team built to play direct. Slade had so many more options available to him than Harris has.

Some people are missing the point on the comparison.

Yes Neil Harris is probably a better manager but they both do as there told and have little say in anything. They are there to steady the ship and collect a wage without causing too much trouble.

He's replacing Harris due to the fans disgust of him on here ;)

I think you'll find 95% of managers these days do as told! Even with the dire football, slade got us up to what 8th was it? The football under Warnock was likely to give us vertigo, and repetitive strain injuries of the neck!!,I know he got us promoted, but the football was just as dire, with no real plans b,at least Harris has the gumption to change things around,do you believe we would have come back from 3-0 at leeds, with Warnock in charge,I don't,he would have parked the bus trying to avoid getting hammered. :old: :old:

No 95% of managers don’t do as there told.

95% of managers get left to manage.

With the team we had an 8th placed finish under Slade was a massive failure.

Out of our last 10 managers

Malky Macky & Neil Warnock are the only ones to bring success to Cardiff City :bluebird:

And both are the only two to properly supported with transfer funds.
Both wasted in excess of £60million each leaving us with poor relegated squads with a huge wage bill.

Very true but they needed a summer transfer window and a full season.

Malky arrived and only had 10 first team players and his first season took us to play offs and League Cup Final with hardly any money :thumbright: :bluebird:

Warnock arrived and saved us from relegation half way through the season bringing in free transfers or out of contract players, inspired and United our club/ fans :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird:

But both in their first seasons achieved things without real money :thumbright: :bluebird:

And both never kept saying they had a big squad full of quality players and soon you will see them come through playing well after playing their way.

He’s free tan sign him up!!! Honestly I never understood how anyone was defending spade at the time. Remember reading this forum and some saying he did a good job under the circumstances! Also remember he was made director of football for a day or so! I’m not a huge Harris fan but I don’t think he’s as bad as slade

Lies

Ole spent plenty of money.

Malky didn’t get us relegated.

Warnock spent hardly anything getting us promoted.

Slade did not get us relegated but one win from the play offs. He gets undue bad press IMO. He was given a job to do and did it as well as he could; can the same be said for Harris? I don’t recall a Slade team when he was here getting tanked 6-1.

That Squad Slade had was much better then the one we have now.

Should of easily got into the playoffs, he failed.

The team will only get you so far you need a manager with a plan and vision of how they want to play and be able to make it happen.

Slade never and it’s looking like Harris hasn’t.
