I have it on good authority ( although it might be fake news) that Leeds wanted to sign Andre Gray from Watford on loan for the rest of the season. Seems logical as they need another striker.
Watford wanted a £2m loan fee and Grays wages paid in full at £80k a week! Apparently Leeds said no as even they can’t afford that sort of money.
I’m not sure what I find most shocking - £2m for a 5 month rental of a player or the idea that Andre Gray could be on £80k a week!

what I find shocking is how often I read thinks like this . then come on here and read how over priced our players are..

It's true
People on here want us to sign few loanees
We are mid table highly likely not to reach playoffs
Pissing money away

We need to sign young loanees not players on 80k who can’t get into premier league teams

Agree we need to test some young talent with an approach to buy

The trouble is that even the young players are on big money.
Tammy Abraham signed a £100K per week contract with Chelsea just before he signed for the Jacks
I don't know how much of that was paid by each club but it does demonstrate how much you have to gamble on a signing working out.
Of course, sometimes clubs come to arrangements on the money e.g. no fee if you pay all the wages, but it's the loaning club that call the shots.
Personally, I'd go for an established player looking for a more regular game but they're few and far between.

I'd rather go with what we have, even lose a few, as long as we can get a few in the Summer

the players they have signed are destined for better things so will go back..
which then leaves them like we were this year lots of holes to fill and not a big enough budget to go anywhere near replacing what you lost.
not that we have a style of play or the contacts to get top end youngsters to start with .

DOGFOUND
thats true what you say, but thats why there called loanees for short periods
i was addressing what llan blue said young loanees and not on £80,000 a week, just like derby did last year under lampard it might only be a season yes but it gets you to where you want to go " the loan system can work cheap or exspensive but the system works, looking at what wolves did when they went up with us to the prem.

Exactly like that.
They won’t be on much, and they are more then good enough to do a job in this league.
They would give us a better chance of getting into the playoffs and then we’d have long enough to search for the right players in the summer instead of wasting money on over priced crap in January.

Loans are expensive, this arguement came up last year when I said we probably spent close to £7million of our budget on the loans of Arter and Camarasa.
People dont see it though as it's not a transfer fee so it doesnt count apparently.

2m is nothing if he scores the goals to take them up.
The fact he's on 80k a week shows just how small are budget was last season and how well we did.

people don't see it , or don't want to see it as it stops their moan agendas.

I agree with the loans we had last season probably cost us quite big money but everyone loan is different..
some clubs are just happy to have a player out of the way like bellamy coming here and Tomlin going to Peterborough where the parent club not only didn't get a loan fee but paid the lions share of wages. others cost insane amounts of money..

Those gaps may be filled next year by players within the Academy system or at lower lewague Clubs on loan who are not ready for C/Ship football this year but could be next . having loanees can definately be useful as a stop gap

That’s what the Jacks are doing.

Yup. The problem is prem teams don't want their young players playing in a team with our style.

Apparently our manager is working on a new style of play
