What does Harris want to get out of this?

Sun Jan 19, 2020 9:13 pm

I don’t mind if we keep being inconsistent, but we need to be FORCING young players through. Sometimes exposure to higher level football is probably the best experience a young player can get.

I don’t get why we don’t just experiment a bit more. I’ve said before that the reason the fans aren’t taking the draws as a positive point is because we’re playing what Harris classes as his best 11. When we are drawing late on, the first team substitutes he brings on aren’t turning draws into wins. So why not bring a couple of younger players through and bring them on once and a while to win a game, that sort of impact off the bench for a goal could really kickstart a young players potential and make them hungry for more. Anybody a little disappointed with the balance of what Harris claims to want to achieve and what he’s currently doing? Again, this isn’t a Harris out post, just find it a bit dishonest from him, with what looks like a lack of direction too, what is he going to do next season if he’s not even bringing any players through right now? It’s true, if the young players aren’t good enough then he shouldn’t play them, but he doesn’t help himself when he keeps saying there’s some good young talent that he likes the look of at the club, and it’s not as if he’s going to have a lot of money to spent next season either. I don’t get what the long term project under this manager is, I really don’t.

Who was out last manager to play our youngsters?

Harris hopes to to win four games on the bounce and make the play offs. And however much we say we are not ready or not again thats what we all hope can happen too.

I'm not sure its our first team managers fault our yongsters arent good enough.

Harris did arrive saying things about creating pathways. what ever that means..
so I sort of understand where Leon is coming from. having said that ,I read so much on here about Coxe over the last couple of years and what ive seen is ..not as good as we have. maybe he will make it , he wasn't terrible but there was nothing in those performances to suggest he should be considered week in week out either..

Him saying he’s going to play youngsters is straight from the best quotes to use at your new club book.

In reality he’s trying to sign a 31 year old donkey of a striker from stoke

‘What does Harris want to get out of this?’

Well, as a manager he wants to finish as high up the table as possible. 6th rather than 7th, 10th rather than 11th etc. so he’s not going to play youngsters if he deems them not good enough. If he’s said there are some talented young players then, obviously, they’re not ready in his eyes.

I don’t understand this play young players thing at all. He’s looked at Coxe and by all accounts he’s been ordinary at best. Maybe he’ll progress but I don’t see why he should play him or others just because of their age.

He actually said he would create a pathway for youngsters, never said he was going to play youngsters? Ever thought the youngsters just may not be ready/up to standards needed? Doesn't matter to some who Harris signs,it won't be good enough for some  I don't think he is that daft as not to see, currently few managers are going to send their youngsters here,as they see the club as one dimensional (a fallout from Warnockball).and as dogfound has alluded to,Coxe didn't float my boat, after all the hype around him from certain quarters, let's hope he gets a few more opportunities to show us what he's about  :old: :bluebird:
