Smithies

Looking for positives from today's game there were a few.

The second half performance was as good as the first half was bad - a real Jeckyll and Hyde performance.

But fair play to Smithies - he almost single handedly won us that point today with two brilliant saves, one in each half.

His distribution was also very good in stark contrast to Etheridge's recent displays.

The one in the first half was very good. But the one towards the end of the game was a very straight forward save. With regards to his distribution I find it very often nowhere near the target, today being Paterson. Only a handful of kicks went anywhere near him, it was similar to Swansea last weekend. But for that save in the first half I can’t knock him too much, although I have absolutely no doubt Etheridge would save that too.

had a good game and made a couple of decent saves but his long kicks are always poor, good contact not much accuracy.

The one in the 1st half was superb,if it were in the prem, match of the day pundits would have been raving over it! Agree with the long kick side of his game today, but an all round good game for him,the defending for their goal?  another tap in from a corner  . :old: :bluebird:

Disagree both saves were in my view world class both at crucial times. The first one he was very brave and spread himself very well to save. Dont think Etheridge would have done the same. As for the 2nd that was by far routine....excellent save

Ie been saying for months he is the best keeper at the club and should be playing. He never deserved to get dropped in the first place

If you are referring to me didn't see Carlisle goals so no comment... but yesterday was clearly defenders fault and would not have blamed Etheridge if in goal.. :laughing6:
But I believe smithies is better at moment for whatever reason Etheridge as lost confidence nothing else.
