A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris told BBC Sport Wales:
"First half, got to be honest, we were not very good, we were poor with the ball.
"We said at half time, let's simplify the plan and do what the conditions dictated.
"We went a bit more direct and in the second half it was everything our fans want to see, a team who have a right go.
"We played in the right areas and looked a real threat, if the referee does his job properly we probably win the game. I felt it was definitely a penalty on Lee Tomlin.
"I thought at the time it was a stonewall penalty."

Deluded im afraid, he sets the team up, he sets the tactics, it should not take until half time to change things.
Its hard to see where our next league win will come from.

Sorry Neil but if you done YOUR job properly in that first half then we wouldn’t have to rely on a referee and we’d probably win the game.

Just seems out of his depth. Saying the right things to appease his paymasters not the fans

Sorry Harris but you might be right but no one gives a shite. so no point talking about what could have been and just focus on what to fix going foreward. play Bennett on the wing ahead of Hoilett and Murphy and then play Cunningham behind Bennett.
Sorry for cursing.

Naive.
It wasn’t a penalty. Tomlins looking for it.
Birmingham were dreadful and today was their first point at home since November.
Why do we start so slowly,?
This manager is getting right up my what’s it

Harris a division out of his depth.
Shambolic 1st half and Birmingham like Carlisle are not good.

this post very much sums up where we are... fans want our style of play to change , Harris is trying to change it , but when its not working and he reverts to the old plan A , people knock him for trying...
had we gone out played direct for 90 mins people would knock him for that too.
he wouldn't have been my choice.. his clichés do my head in but I do sympathise , he really can not do right for doing wrong.

It looks as if hes trying to get players to play a more possession and passing game (recent stats show this) but some of the players are having problems adjusting or are no capable to carry out his plan? Hence he as to change things back at halftime this would explain several poor 1st halfs but better 2nd halfs where we have been better side like today..

I agree. The players have been drilled into a style of play for three seasons and changing that is not easy, and not all will be capable. We're having a bit more of the ball but we still have no pace, and now missing ML too, and are not creating chances. NH still yet to bring in a single player and when he has some players he has chosen and not inherited in his starting XI I'll start to more judgemental.

Why is everyone pointing a finger at NH? It’s not as if Warnock was doing anything with this side? People need to wake up. It’s not as of this squad lends itself to anyone. Harris is trying to bring a bit of football to the side, the side; sadly, doesn’t have a bit of football in it. Warnock knew he’d left us way too short and ducked out asap.
Harris doesn’t have the option of spending millions, he’s got to trim the squad first to clear out the surplus.
I didn’t want Harris but it’s hard to blame him for this mess.

More off the shelf sound bytes from Harris
Sun Jan 19, 2020 2:44 pm
Harris is getting more out of the squad this season than Warnock did So far he is getting 1.41 points a game against Warnocks 1.3 points Not a great improvement but when you think Warnock bought the players you would expect him to do better
