Flint our fans latest villain

Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:51 am

As fans we are great on getting on the backs of players having a difficult time Take Flint last night A mistake for the first goal but no mention of the midfield tracking back for the guy who scored
Flint scores two and gets the header for Murphys goal If he was a striker we would be saying how great he was
Coxe being at fault for two of the goals Letting a player drift in to the back post for the 2nd and totally switching off for the free kick
Yes Flint is on a lot of money but why to we always have to have a villain at city ? I don’t follow other teams but maybe we are the same as all the other clubs

We conceded 3 goals against Carlisle. Wow Flint, a 6’6 tallest guy on the pitch Center half scored 2 corner goals against a bottom League 2 side who could be a conference team next season.

Excuse me for not praising his “performance” and by “performance” you mean his contribution up front. Mate, no defenders get any credit from me when we concede 3 goals against the fourth worst team in the football league.

But he gets the brunt of it when there were three defenders who contributed far less than he did Bamber was shocking the last few games and at 6ft 4 he did not score any goals against a poor team

He costs us a goal every time he plays it’s been going on all season.

Don’t try and pin it all on just one game.

He’s slow clumsy and cannot defend.

What he did for that first goal is unacceptable he stopped and put his arm in the air. Not good enough for any professional footballer never mind one that cost a few million quid.

how exactly do you manage to attribute conceding 3 goals to Flint ?
the first goal the ball comes rather fortunately I think off their players back...none of our players or in fact speedy Gonzalez is then beating him to the bye line...Flint stands there with his arm in the air but cant now do anything ...Sol can ,but has stopped playing and has his arm up before Flints...Jazz is in jog mode and Ralls has stopped tracking his man.. but that's all flints fault your having a laugh..
2nd goal their player turns jazz inside out and crosses, coxe has lost the scorer..
3rd goal . quick fee kick and coxe is not switched on.

theres a reason he usually gets the brunt from the fans. hes simply not good enough, we've conceded too many goals this season, and when you watch some of them back, flints out of position, missed his man, missed a header. i know you expect it from some defenders, but this guy is coming upto 30 years old, hes well past the development phase and the fact we spent £6m on him means we expect a certain quality. against swansea in the first derby, if i remember correct he was out jumped several times by dyer who was the smallest guy on the pitch. the fact is, morrison i find is a better leader and defender and would do well with a run of games with a runner next to him, against the jacks it was perfect, to his left he had a runner in bennet with pace, and to his right he had nelson whos got legs and can run.

Exactly this.

People are saying I’m blaming Flint outright for the goals. I’m not. It’s just him playing 90 minutes effects 90 minutes of the game.
If we play Josh Murphy at Center back, he may not be directly responsible for the goals we concede but I assure you we will concede goals just for him being there.

My biggest gripe with him for such a big lad he gets bossed off ball very easy and when he does he lacks pace to make up for it

what has Morrison ,who is a better leader or how we played last week got anything to do with Flint being slaughtered for last night ?
he wasn't out of position didn't miss a header or get out jumped by dyer in those goals last night

it pure flat out scapegoating...
so yes your 100% correct...there is a reason..youll find fault anyway..

its not about last night, its about on a consistency level. flint has been very poor consistently, i never said flint was poor last night, i havent even mentioned anything about last nights game. i think its shocking we conceded that many against a team doing soo poorly in the league, but this was a BIG night for them, so they would up their game so i can sort of understand a spirited performance against us.. i am just answering the question of why our fans complain etc regarding flint, who simply isnt good enough.

He would have been fine with Nelson, Bennett and Peltier, he was playing in a weaker defence and not to blame for all the goals.

Morrison, Flint and Bamba can't play together, we Need Nelson playing with any one of them, and we need cover for Nelson because if he gets injured we leak goals.

Morrison and Nelson is the best combination.

he is a decent player { probably not one of the 2 that should start I admit } who is being scapegoated and you will not find a clearer example than last night..had a good game yet still slaughtered.. its not the first time either...
if he has a mare fair enough.. but its every game he plays no matter how well he plays.. he wasn't even in the top 3 for worse defenders last night yet its flint threads again...its shit

Like Morrison he’s proved himself at Championship level, approximately 200games, but they are very similar players,Morrison slightly better defender but Flint better goal scorer at set pieces. However they are too similar to play together and why Warnock thought they could is unbelievable! So we play one with Nelson with the other on the bench unless we get an offer of 5m for any of them. Bamba will go in the summer or before if Warnock gets a job and Kieron Brown will replace him?

really? i know bamba signed an extension, i wouldn't be suprised if at the end of the season, he transitioned into a player/coach.

Its not just Flint at fault. The back four and midfield are to blame and are not good enough. Unfortunately our manager is not good enough so unless the we bring in a sporting director to advise Tan then we will struggle this season, next season and for as long as NH is in charge.

Can't put all the blame on Flint. Cardiff as a team have defended very badly all season. Boro had the best defence in the championship last year and Flint played all season.

He had better midfielders in front at Boro. Our midfield is generally nonexistent, and exposes our defence at every opportunity.

It’s a shame.. we’ve had some great back players. Gary Bennett, Ratcliffe, Robbie James, Delaney, McNaughton, Bruno etc. Ian Rodgerson was also very good. We just need better quality there.

Re: Flint our fans latest villain

Was not there last night and I have only just seen the highlights on the BBC video. I don't see how Flint is to blame for any of there goals rather than the defence as a whole. In fact Coxe was far more responsible for two of their goals. Granted Flint is not the best defender we have ever had and we overpaid for him but is frankly ludicrous to blame him when we conced a few goals when others are more responsible. He is the only bugger in the team who can be relied on to score regularly too.

Morrison, Whitts, Ralls, Hudson, Bothroyd, McPhail just off the top of my head have all been scape goats on this board at one time or another. If I put a bit of thought into it I could put a much more sizeable list I'm sure.

Problem with message boards is fans like a moan but it used to be over a punt and then done, now the conversation just goes round and round and lasts forever.

Christ we would have probably turned on Rambo if he'd been here long enough to have a bad run of games.

Some of the best players we have had, Etheridge is getting a bit of stick now too!

I find it amazing the abuse some players get for simply not being great. I mean if they’re not even trying and have a bad attitude I get it, but for making an honest error in a game and getting battered by their own fans is mental.

I mean let’s bet fair, could any of us in the stand do better?

Poor lee naylor is probably still having flashbacks from the ninian stand abuse.
