1st team 11!

Wed Jan 15, 2020 10:35 pm

The argument tonight is fans calling this side a 1st team 11 because they've all played for the 1st team but not on regular basis? Yes was very poor to concede 3 goals to Carlisle, but what about all the premier and championship teams who went out to lower league teams! They did same as us... doesn't that tell you that most players that dont play regularly together dont perform well regardless of their quality? If tonight's team was same as sundays people will have a point about performance but it wasn't so let's just be thankful that we are through unlike other teams who played lower ranked team using fringe players.

Agree with this. It was not a first choice starting XI by any means. And first time Flint and Sol played together. And let's face it how many of us would make that out ch pairing? We've got through a tie which has not been the case too often.

it was the FA cup , and its famous for the under dogs doing well...

it seems its ok for us to beat Leeds 53 places above us. but not for Carlisle to give us a game...

Allan, regardless of tonight's game do you believe our current first team is capable of reaching the playoffs this year?

It is a first team 11.

Even if they haven’t played a match together they’ve played football with each other almost everyday since June so the suggestion they won’t do well because they haven’t played together is nonsense.

An it’s not the fact that it’s a team that’s lower then us. A team that is one of the absolute worst in the whole of the football league scored 5 goals against us.

In other threads we’ve got people saying we’ve got a strong squad we can make they playoffs. NOPE we’ve got a big squad a big squad of average players who cannot defend. We struggled to beat one of the worst teams in the league.

That team who your all saying isn’t a first team cost millions of pounds.

They almost shat it against Carlisle whose last home game was a 3-0 loss against Plymouth.

I don’t want to hear it’s the cup and shocks happen we are absolutely useless and can’t defend against anybody.

Carlisle played their strongest side possible we played 11 players from our 1st team squad same as Bristol and those that lost to lower opposition did! we won they lost They lost because they did not play their starting 11 and as they lost they probably didn't play well and opposition played above themselves Now what's difference between us and Bristol ect ?
Nothing really so why the pretence tonight that we started our 1st 11 when clearly we did not we started 11 players from 1st team squad who normally dont play together only occasionally and certainly not all eleven at same time.. that had some effect on performance just as it did for Bristol ect ect :old:

Llan is not wrong.

Big squad but too many of them are simply not top end chamionship players. And do not make us better.

On the other hand we won and are through unlike others.

I wonder how many Leicester and Southampton players played both games one 0-9 and the other 0-3?

Football is a strange game and our "first XI" may have lost last nightm

Absolutely agree!!! We look clueless at times, I honestly hope I'm proved wrong..... but at the moment we are going backwards with Harris in charge :banghead:

To me, last nights team consisted of the 1st team squad. It wasn’t the first team by any stretch and that was proved by the many changes from what Harris deemed his first team choice against swansea.

I didn’t watch the game but we are through to the next round even against the wishes of a few on here it seems.

Honest opinions:
How many of the starting 11 last night , will be in the starting 11 on Saturday against Birmingham ?
I'll say just maybe 2 at most.

Will be interesting to see but last nights team definitely wasn’t ‘virtually the first team’ by any stretch of the imagination.

3 points difference means absolutely nothing!!!
I watch the shit week in week out and we are absolutely terrible, Harris is not the man to get us promoted.

The board are to blame for this shocking appointment.

I hope he proves me wrong but I say what I see.

those 3 point might be what get us into play offs? you never know. I agree the board have a lot of responsibility to take not for the manager but sanctioning the transfers from neil warnock this year
