VINCE ALM:
Personal opinion of the January transfer window it is crap. Players transfer fees and wages are over priced.
If any player is any good why do a club want to offload him.
Unless there is some player out there who is available at a reasonable price to improve the squad I wouldn't bother.
Our squad is not quite where it should be and this transfer window will not improve it much if not at all.
With that in my mind I am a bit disappointed that some of our better younger players are going out on loan and not given an opportunity with us?
I would be happy to write the rest season off as long as we stay up to have a look at some of them but that appears to be to late.
I really couldn't care less whether we sign anybody or not in this window, I can't think of to many decent signings in January just a handful we've made. On the whole a waste of a transfer fee and wage packet majority of them.

Totally agree. Last January we signed Bacuna on a long contract, the year before that Madine....

Like I said, a long contract.

You may get a really good player on the cheap if his contract is up in the summer, or he isn’t playing at a club.
Doesn’t apply to us tho’ as we won’t be spending.

Didn’t we just bid 2.3mil on a player? It’s well documented that we bid but would not go back in for him.
I’m not concerned if nobody comes in during this window as I don’t believe we’re going to make the play offs regardless.
Of course, there’s always a chance of bringing in a gem but I think it’s unlikely when we’re bidding for players like Moore.

Vince Alm talking a lot of sense here

He ia entitled to an opinion same as everyone else. Unfortunately season tickets are out soon, you can't dress up the undercurrent of disappointment and negativity. Not a popular choice when appointed but you get the feeling that its the same as Slade, two seasons of treading water and adding workman like players. Certainly no ambition for play offs and the initial promise of promoting young players up the ranks is certainly not happening in the league games at least. Same old, same old when the initial story was one of the Burnley model. No where near it, I'm afraid.

Obviously other championship clubs think same as only 8 clubs have brought in players so far in window..... the question is do we spend money on loans or keep the money for the summer when better players will be available? It's not about NH ability to bring in players its about players being available ...

Whilst I see it from your point of view,we have an awful lot of dead wood, money earning squad, not one of which were this managers choice,we have to face facts,Warnock's words when leaving, about leaving a squad capable of achieving promotion, we're just that, words.he wrung the life out the players he left behind, realised as much by 10 games in,and left, before the shit really started to fly his way.we have always had fluctuating support,as far back as I can remember, only success attracts a certain supporter, that's just modern day football, and in most cases modern day fans.I agree,it would have been better if the powers that be said nothing upon relegation, and not built up supporters hopes

but this is cardiff city we are talking about, its never plain sailing with us.

He's very average, not alot wrong with him though. But to consider we bought him in the prem is a bit of a joke and just shows our ambition.

he is decent enough.. not sure players were queueing up to join our 1 year tour of premier league grounds .or clubs queueing up to sell premier league players for what we payed either....

Bacuna is very limited.

I remember 15 odd years Sir Alex Ferguson saying that the January window offered poor value and he didn't like doing business then unless he had to.
It has taken a while but I now agree with him (and Vince) that we are unlikely to find that bargain which will make much difference to the squad. If we do sign someone all we will be doing is adding to our wage bill and getting very little in return.

January tends to just be the time that you look to plug holes in your team or look for some cover for a position. Its a very difficult window to try and re-structure your squad. If he cant get the players he really wants this window id rather he saved his money, maybe give a few youngsters some game time here and there and look to spend the money in the summer instead of wasting 1-3m on a player he doesn't really want or spending it on a 31 year old striker from Stoke.

Completely agree why let the kids out on loan when we can test there ability here
We are never going to get anywhere buying crap year in year out

It amazes me that people feel supporters cant expect their club to improve. We arent top, we arent playing well and we certainly can expect better. There's no disrespect in stating this, your no less of a supporter in stating it. You could argue for arguments sake that you care more as you want to see the club prosper. Sometimes it seems there's a bit of a pattern in January.
Promise players begining of season, state we are finding it tough at the begining of Jan, bring in "squad" players on deadline day. Nothing new.
Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:16 pm
Frazier Campbell was a decent enough signing in January, there are deals to be done.
Fri Jan 17, 2020 6:39 am
I don't understand the sentiment.
It probably says more about our view on Harris than the window itself.
There are only two opportunities to add to your squad, one in January and the other in the summer, January harder mainly as there are no, or at least not many, free agants as players contracts run to the season end. Why though would we turn down the chance to try and recruit?
Frazier Campbells signing arguably made the extra difference to our promotion.
Not saying the window makes for easy business but it's an opportunity and if we'd just appointed Klopp as manager and he had a kitty to spend I doubt we'd think the same.
