Football Imo has become to soft and sterile both on and off the pitch the last ten years.
I started watching Cardiff in the early 90s so missed the 80s where by many accounts football was struggling in general.
For me the early 2000s were probably the best, the standard of football was good but players could still tackle and get stuck in. Fans could go to games safely but there was still good atmospheres, didn't feel like going to the cinema. You didn't risk prison sentences for a bit of pushing and shuving or being ejected for swearing.

Stentona had it spot on paying at the gate. No messing about with having to calculate how many games you’ve been to, to get a ticket for a game. Didn’t even matter too much when we couldn’t get in (Brentford at Christmas). Decided with your mates you were going, book the minibus off you went. No criteria! “must have gone to the last 3 out of 5 away games not including reading or a Saturday game, must have had fire proofed flag blessed by the pope, must not be wearing odd socks, and wearing a sombrero, on sale at 10 am on a Tuesday for collection, if not collected by 10.15 open to season ticket holders who have been to no away matches or anyone called Brian after that then open sale. I don’t bother sometimes cos it’s too complicated to work out. And this season apart from jacks they could have got anyone that wanted to go

A few others as well, Pig & Whistle, Buccaneer, Bluebell, Glendower, Custom House, Sea Lock and plenty of other proper pubs. Beer was decent and reasonably priced, not like the over priced watered down stuff they dish out to the youngsters today in a lot of the City centre pubs..
