Considering our defenders tend to boot ball 50yds upfield hardly surprising is it? :o

Watch Morrison closely next game - virtually every headed clearance he does goes straight to an opposition player.

Well obviously as no plan he just wants to head it clear to anywhere!

A tad unfair as most of his headers are contested but his passing stats are nevertheless poor.I'm hoping once the Harris factor kicks in these stats may yet improve across the back four.

It's not just the contested headers that go to the opposition - even when he's under no pressure there is no attempt to bring the ball under control and find a team mate. All he does is try to head it as far as possible regardless of where it ends up!

Have to agree with Morrison heading to the opposition. He did it twice on Saturday, to the Jack's in the penalty area or just outside. When we were in the premership, that would have resulted in goals, thank goodness Jacks were poor.

It's Morrisons aimless headers when a footballer not under pressure would bring under control and play with feet instead I particularly enjoy

Not surprised, I think it’s close to telling the whole story, last year in the Prem, very similar. In fact promotion year, I wouldn’t be surprised if similar. Warnocks recruitments playing Warnocks way. Having said that we haven’t been blessed in a long time under many managers with defenders who are confident with the ball at their feet or in picking a pass . A few standouts over the years of course, and one of my favourite sights on a football pitch both as a player and supporter, is a confident centre back , ball at feet, pinging passes , mixing it up, big stride, confident. The rest of the team get huge boosts from players like that, If only there were more out there! Sometimes I think the midfield players of a certain stature should get try outs at centre back, Vaulks played there for Rotherham in the past. Ralls also at left back, Ashley Young did well reverting to full back. It does my nut in when the ball is given away cheaply, unnecessarily, I would love Ampadu on loan next season.he likes the ball at his feet

What is apparent from this is we must immediately sign this Murray Wallace bloke so we have the top five.

Have a look at the midfielder stats. Ralls one of the least accurate in the Championship.

its just a stat based on completed passes whether the pass is difficult or not is not factored in , or in fact length of pass..so its pretty obvious players in teams that play that bore you to death knocking 5 yard safe passes amongst the back 4 and keeper are going to have much higher accuracy stats than our hit someone first time from 60 yard players..

Agreed although I'd suggest that it explains why Tomlin is also high on that list but not so much Ralls. Ralls is the player who mostly picks up the ball and plays the simple passes, the continuity player really, which is slightly worrying, particularly as he also only averages 1 tackle a game too !!!

his pass completion was very high under Slade because he wasn't expected to be doing all the play making, lots of his passes were short sideways and backwards keeping poss until we got Whitts on the ball in a bit of space.. his game has had to change to be more direct playing longer and tighter passes which are more risky this last couple of years which is costing him in this accuracy stat..
personally I don't think he has become a worse player, infact I think he has improved ?

I'd certainly agree that he is a better player now than he was.

It just worries me slightly that a lot of people think his return will signal an improvement whereas I'm not so sure he'll fit into the current way of playing any better than Bacuna who is the person most obviously threatened by his return.
